One Single Impression: Love (# 2)

.

Love
love makes the world go round it's said
a lot depends upon one's age
now looking on remembering
we've been there each delightful stage

two of our best just barely three
holding hands walking down the street
forbidden kiss it's puppy love
pita-pat heart's love at first beat

thrashing about hands uncontrolled
sensuous lips wander tarry
passionate teen kiss who will know
parents silent anxious caring

stars wild and crazy gone rampant
yet serious couples families start
Sunday sleep in—church—park—or play
new adults crowd of loving hearts

you make coffee I'll do the bed
read the paper and go to work
their love has now become routine
they still bite with a little smirk

I love you dear said tenderly
oft and smiling still when they greet
they've been married a hundred years
holding hands walking down the street

puppy love—mad passionate love
wild and crazy love—earnest love
routine love—old dog (mature) love
really hope it stays that way—love

NaPoWriMo 2017, Day 19 -- a Poem, Love

My love for you has no end

From the start I liked you, very much
Your smile, your humor, your compassion
Add your sweetness, the way you carry
Angel prompted, a mix made just right

We blended into a sweet bundle
'Opposites attract' they tell, peach, pear
When together, my body, my mind
Said to me, you love her, let her know

When I'm with you my body tingles
Tongue thinks only sweet morsels of praise
Together, laugh and play, sit and talk
I couldn't think of being without you

I know I love you, precious jewel
And now I hope you can love me too

 - Sanaa told us about Carol Ann Duffy, the first woman Poet Laureate of Britain (link), and asked us to "write about love, using a common everyday image. Choose your own form ..."  For more and Carol Ann's lovely love poem which compared the writer's love to an onion click here.
 - The photo of Mrs.. Jim and me was taken by a sunbather on January 3, 2016.  We were walking on the beach at Cozumel, Mexico.

 - Since I have never had any poetry writing formal classes, my only learning was of some elementary fundamentals in my English classes, high school and college.  I also read a few books, parts of them, and glean from the Internet.  Plus sometimes the Toads have short explanations of varying forms and the like.  And a lot from the Internet.

 - I had never formally learned to write a love poem, so I went to the Internet and found a   Poetry Site which had simple directions for writing a simple love poem.  Using these directions I have written two other love poems of sorts which were well received by loving poetry group members (
link to these poems plus a link having a few other off the cuff love poems and some about love.

 - Here is a copy of the 1,2,3,4,5 instructions that I wrote by.  I have lost the reference to them.

Now, the poem's directions:
Write a love poem
(here, written as a man telling a woman of his love for her)
1.  tell how you felt when first you saw her
2.  tell how you knew it was her you loved

3.  tell now about being with her
4.  are you happy with what you wrote, edit as necessary?5.  discard thoughts that didn't fit

Love (# 1) (reposted, formerly June 3, 2010)

Magaly talked of her first poem. My assignment, the first, over at One Single Impression--now dormant--was to write a love poem. I had never written one so I Googled for instructions.
I linked this poem with her, Magaly, at the Real Toads, Monday Open Link (link)

These, which are integrated into my work, served me, the novice, just fine. (I had dabbled before but not published, not even on-line.)
The picture I included, it was our wedding photo.  All family, except my best man.

They said to write a love poem

To my sweetest, my blossom true
wanting to write you a love poem
telling you how much I love you
fingers to keys sweet words to come

.
tell how you felt when first you saw her
I will try to write a love poem

When first we met my heart went wild
no tender little pitty-pat
but one long jolt you caused, my child,
a bolt from the blue hit my chest

.
how you knew it was her you loved
It came one day into my head
.
Listen to my arrow pierced heart
my life will never be the same
Dan Cupid hit me on the mark
that arrow had your name

tell now about being with her

My life is whole a life complete
I need you always by my side
dearer than chocolate you're so sweet
love you always will you're my pride

are you happy with what you wrote?

.
If I could only write a poem
if I had the sweet words I felt
if I could now put them to print
there would be a love poem for you

discarded thoughts that didn't fit?

Many thoughts I dropped one thing sure
I love you to Heaven above
you can do no wrong you're so pure
I can't live without you my love

Note:  Now that I've posted this one I did find some other poems that I wrote and posted for One Single Impression.  The first one that I can find is about an outhouse, which way for ladies and which for the men.
It was titled "Doorway".  (link)  I wrote that one back on June 29, 2008.  There were also some more after that and before the one I posted again here today. (first posted this on link)

14 Words of Love

Our this week's optional prompt asks us to share 14 loving words, or words about love – any kind of love, for anyone or anything.  If that doesn't give you enough scope for everything you'd like to say, you may create several stanzas of 14 words each."

. . .

With help of Ai google found

14 words of love for me

I'll try my best to wrap them all

With words of my own and Webster

All the time my precious sweetheart

Kiss on your cheek warm embrace

Old fashion love it works for us

Here are my words that I wil try:

Love, Ai gave my start from here

Agape, selfless puppy dog

AFFECTION, a little lighter

Adoration, Christmas tree kind

Devotion, only you Darling

Eros, comes as passionate love

LUDUS, playful love, pat your rear

Passion, my strong love relentless

Philautia, self-love, not my kind

Philia, friends love, old people

Pragma, committed, here to stay

Romance, see this in the movies

Storgē, familial love, touching

Warmth, cuddling, save for winter night

. . . Now my Darling, with all our kinds

We should marry, so will you please

(Shiver, shiver, are you ready?)

. . .

writing love poems, revisited -- Day 8 of NaPoWriMo 2015

Today we are to tell of a poem or other writing that we really didn't like, thought it was not good enough.  Back when I was writing with the One Single Impression poetry group a prompt was suggested by Melanie at Cassiopeia Rises  to write a LOVE POEM.  I had never written a love poem and from the start I really did not want to write one.

But to be a good sport, I went along with the prompt.  But I checked on how to write a love poem and what one should look like.  But to show HOW I decided what to write, I put the instructions I like best from my searching, then followed these instructions with the lines which follow that instruction.

Here is my completed love poem, first posting on June 03, 2010:  http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/2010/06/one-single-impression-love.html
There were ten complementary comments with one making a punctuation suggestion.  Then again on August 18, 2014, I reposted it and got 12 nice comments ( http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/2014/08/wrinkle-rewritten.html ). These comments boosted my confidence so with these instructions I will attempt to write another.  It is late, I may miss the mark a little or a lot tonight.

I will post the instructions I used at the bottom of this post.

To my very precious Love

When I first saw you, I thought,
"this lady I want to know"

That is when I dropped my kerchief
and you picked it up for me

We talked and I knew I must
see you some more.

We met on that Friday night
and doted on some ice cream

It became a weekly affair and
soon it was clear to me that I loved you

Now I wouldn't want to miss a Friday
night again with you, ice cream perhaps

I do love with you with all my heart
Fridays nights and every night and day

I'd like to spend that time with you
Please would you spend yours with me?

I love you so dearly,
I hope we will never part
_ _ _

Now, the poem's directions:
Write a love poem
(here, written as a man telling a woman of his love for her)
1.  tell how you felt when first you saw her
2.  tell how you knew it was her you loved

3.  tell now about being with her
4.  are you happy with what you wrote, edit as necessary?
5.  discard thoughts that didn't fit
_ _ _
I love her

This poem is ...

This Poem is an Elephant, a Crawfish,  and a Golfing Man (a Golfer Putting)
~
This poem is a little reddened crawfish
This poem is a strong elephant
This poem is an old man puttering around

This poem has been crying
it wishes it had more love and affection than it gets
This poem is a doll, a toy waiting to be loved
it will sing and sing as long as her batteries are strong
This poem is a young miss, married for two years
but now she is a crawfish red from crying

This poem is big and strong
it is capable of showing much love and affection
This poem is also a doll, a toy who really is very handsome
It will sing with crocodile tears along with anyone who cries
This poem is a young fellow, married for two years
but who acts like an old lumbering elephant after the honeymoon ends

This poem is love, small and slowed
it is dawdling in slow motion when it should be hurrying
This poem is a figurine, a miniature statue of a golfer, putting
It is slow and steady. It likes to play its game more than to love
This poem is love, love that is puttering around now
And after two years that love is sputtering, very seldom showed.

This poem is a young lass, married two years, a puckered crawfish all red from crying
This poem is a young man, whose love life has gone stale, a lumbering elephant
This poem is love, sputtering love that seldom shows, old man love puttering around
.

Today I am linked (link) with Hannah at the Real Toads, Sunday's Mini Challenge
Monday Update:  I am also linking (link) with Kerry's Real Toads, Open Mondays posting

Hannah wants us to write in a form she has devised and called it the Boomeranged Metaphor poem. The first set of three lines go out in " Create three, “This poem is a ____,” statements" and are returned at the end with some edification and amplification permitted and perhaps encouraged.
Additionally, upon the return, a metaphor has been developed between each line the first set of three and the final three.  You can learn more from the link above to Hannah's directions.

A Music Inspired Poem for Marian ~~ a Tribute to her

Sweet Love;
  save me

"Your sweet love is gonna save me" *
I been runnin' wild with the boys
Trouble has been my middle name
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Been runnin' wild, whiskey and gin
That's no help, I get wilder still
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Tame me good, I need your lovin'
Let us try, one sweet kiss goes far
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Slow me down and please take me home
Spend some time I'll make us coffee
Jails don't fix me, but your love can

Your sweet love can save me tonight
One kiss from you can make me tame
Please get to know me, I'm alright
We'll go slow, your sweet love save me

"Take It Easy"
Eagles Lyrics, 1972
https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eagles/takeiteasy-1972.html

Well, I'm a-running down the road
Tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me
Two that wanna stone me
One says she's a friend of mine

Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy

Well, I'm a-standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord
In a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me

Come on, baby
Don't say "Maybe"
I gotta know
If your sweet love
Is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
Though we will never be here again
So open up, I'm climbin' in
So take it easy

Well, I'm running down the road
Trying to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover
Who won't blow my cover
She's so hard to find

Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on, baby
Don't say "Maybe"
I gotta know
If your sweet love
Is gonna save me

Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Poem, Endless Love

Formerly posted April 28, 2020
for NaPoWriMo Day 28 -

Without Numbers;
Too many to count

My love for you begins at South
It climbs mountains to wink at stars
And goes back down into the dale

Zillions and zillions times over
Each step each blink of eye
My love for you filling my mind

I know you feel the same for me
Numberless as the beach buggers
Smacking lips wishing for fresh fish

Consumes us both my love for you
Your love for me we do exchange
Till we reach North which never comes

Numberless steps before it ends
Love made from all the sweet flowers
Numberless in themselves we coo

Coo and cuddle will never end
I love you you love me dizzy
Up and down those high hills higher

Higher and higher our love grows
Numberless buggers North as well
Blessed in High Heaven is our love

Sunday Muse - Will I open?

.
    The door is locked

I have the key the door is locked
You can't come in without the word
Your magic word I'll turn the key
Works better than cupid's arrow

You know the word don't say in vain
Please, want it seriously said
When I know you really mean it
I'll turn my key, open the door

Door to my heart and shoot your dart
Let Cupid's Arrow sting my heart

 Lyrics (sing along?) --

    Is Your Love in Vain?

Do you love me
Or are you just extending good will?
Do you need me half as bad as you say
Or are you just feeling guilt?

I've been burned before and I know the score
So you won't hear me complain
Will I be able to count on you
Or is your love in vain?

Are you so fast that you cannot see
That I must have solitude?
When I am in the darkness
Why must you intrude?

Do you know my world, do you know my kind
Or must I explain?
Will you let me be myself
Or is your love in vain?

Well, I've been to the mountain and I've been in the wind
I've been in and out of happiness
I have dined with kings, I've been offered wings
And I've never been too impressed

All right, I'll take a chance
I will fall in love with you
If I'm a fool you can have the night
You can have the morning too

Can you cook and sew, make flowers grow
Do you understand my pain?
Are you willing to risk it all
Or is your love in vain?

Can you cook and sew, make flowers grow
Do you understand my pain?
Are you willing to risk it all
Or is your love in vain?

Thank you

Poem for Mothers

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Motherly Love

Mama I love you
So very much I love
I know you love me
Feed me kiss me caress

Forever I'll love
And when I'm bigger
I'll love you even more
You'll protect me always

Teach me to be safe
Little boys are fair game
Fathers jealous men
I'll have to run and hide

And when older still
I'll remeber that love
Then to my bride
Love her as you taught me

Autumn Comes ~~ a Poem for Tuesday

Autumn Comes

When autumn comes, my love matures
Summer's hot passions simmer down
Like the flowers that last 'til fall
My love has mellowed autumn comes

When autumn comes I love you more
What began last spring harvest now
We reap our joy with tenderness
A deeper love not to be found

With autumn comes leaves turning red
Yellow, clinging tight to their branch
You'll not float down nor blow askew
We'll hold tight with our steadfast love

When autumn ends nature's ready
Ready for winters coldest chills
We like the creatures hunker down
Nurture each other love will warm

My heart cries out my love for you
Please love me thus as autumn comes
