Moonlight Musings I - an Essay

Moonlight Musings I (1st. Edition): Interactive Edition was born. (Meaning that Magaly Guerrero gets to be the first of it editors.)

My essay, a commentary:

Well, today is your day you can interact with me and the others who have opened themselves to criticism over their social media writing via comments left (click on the link below).

I've had some pretty flagrant endings of the great social media from some nasty commenters. "If you can't say something nice then it's better to say nothing at all."

My first was a supposedly news writer who went beyond flaming on my Facebook. She said nasty things and insinuations about Mrs. Jim, my wife. Saying bad things to or about me is one thing, I'll even try making up. But you'd best leave Mrs. Jim alone, to me that's cheap shot bullying. I unfriended her.

Another was upset because I sided with Anna Nicole Smith (Wikipedia link) in the feud over her inheritance from her husband, J. Howard Marshall, with her stepson, E. Pierce Marshall. The upset reader harassed me continually until I took my post down.  I decided that I would not take sides over anymore issues like that.  Nor did I or will I get political on my blog.

(Smith lost her battle, the stepson died before the case was finally settled, and some time later Smith also died of "... "combined drug intoxication" with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the "major component."[88] No illegal drugs were found in her system. The official report states that her death was not considered to be due to homicide, suicide or natural causes." [Wikipedia])

Then the ones who rule play cops and letting you know when you've flaunted one. Like leaving a reference when one is asked for. Jesus said, "Let him who has done no sin throw the first stone." I start ignoring these types.

Now I don't mind pointing out typos, I beg you to let me know. Besides the Professor is to set an example.  In the comments left of course I like compliments.  But just letting me know you've read makes me 'feel good'.  Blogger tells me that I have about a 25 percent figure of my 'readers' who will leave comments.  For sure several are family members and Facebook friends who are not bloggers.

Duck that swears;
Models Woman in Red

The Long Road Home crawled that night
So slow the duck was Going Rogue
Streams of curses "F"words galore

Not her night for sure Self Matters
Tough as They Come number one comes first
Handle with Care, Woman in Red

Easy Money tempts, Seize the Night
Make it Last for all Angels Fall
Duck that swears like Woman in Red

Tecnically, these poems that we write are "Spine Poems" (click on the 'Label', Spine Poems, below to see several of the ones I "wrote".).  Margaret has, on that link, a picture of a woman in red in a library full of books. Margaret listed those books that she could see.  We were to use at least ten in our poem.
I used these ten:
  1. The Long Road Home
  2. Going Rogue
  3. Self Matters
  4. Tough as They Come
  5. Handle with Care
  6. Woman in Red
  7. Easy Money
  8. Seize the Night
  9. Make it Last
  10. Angels Fall
 - There also is a novel, one of a series, by Louise Penny similarly named "The Long Way Home" that I had confused  with the listed book, "The Long Road Home."
 - It was a good book but I was tired of running into the pet duck with a foul mouth.   It too quacked saying the real thing for the "F"word.   After a few times reading this I quit the series.

The Telly is On;
  a grandparent's view

The telly is on
  what is she watching
When she was yet small
  "Weather" was her fave
She'd stand by the set
  tell temp and forecast
Weather girl was she
  point and read her lines

Now telly is on
  but watching she's not
On the floor, Netflix
  iPad, head in hands
Though teen she is not
  teen channel for her
Growing up sooo fast
  old beyond her years

A Poem for the Tuesday Platform

[Model A Ford parked in the church lot on a
Sunday Morning (click picture for larger size)]

Over the hill

Over the hill and through the woods
Used to say, "when I'm old and gray"
But now I'm there Grandma is gone
My dear Grandma has passed away

Where she has gone I think I know
Over the hill and through the wood
On the porch she's waiting for me
I was her favorite of our brood

She always had stories to tell
And homemade cookies in her jar
Over the hill and through the woods
Took me for rides in her old car

That was years ago now I'm old
Stories I have they must be told

Four of my toy Cast Iron 1:18 scale Model Ford Convertibles, 1956 Sunliner, 1937 Cabriolet, 2003 Mustang GT, and 1965 Mustang.  (I have had a real '56 Ford Sunliner Convertible and still own a '98 GT Mustang Convertible.)

A Poem for one word - 'Halved'

Sharecropper

The old share cropper
  worked so very hard
With family to feed
  he must be frugal

Cost of seed was shared
  Harvest of grain matched
each two kernels grown
  his landlord got one

Bales of hay that way
  all the harvest halved
Even the garden
  veggies some for each

Where they differed, how
  the proceeds were used
Landlord sold for cash
  Farmer fed to stock

Livestock to sell save
  some for family food
Roosters Sunday meal
  Hens' eggs eat and sell

Save money not used
  To buy his own farm
