April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 15 -- with "Higher, Higher--Fire, Fire, Fire!" -- and for The Sunday Muse

      Jim Morrison, Why

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl we couldn't get much higher.
Come on babe light my fire
Come on babe light my fire
Try to set the night on fire!

Jim Morrison, why'd you die so young *
Jim Morrison, why'd you die in France *
The time to hesitate is through,
No time to wallow in the mire,
You left a nice girl in France
You left your nice girl all alone
Try now we can only lose,
And our love becomes a funeral pyre.
No body knows why you died, she too died in France
Why'd you leave your nice girl, all alone in France
Come on babe light my fire
Come on babe light my fire
You left, died, when you were in the tub
Why'd you not call me from the couch
Try to set the night on fire!

Too late now, we've done our bit
The time to hesitate is through,
No time to wallow in the mire,
Wallow you did not, to the edge of the tub
You're a heal you know, I was so very close
Try now we can only lose,
And our love becomes a funeral pyre.
Jim Morrison, why'd you die so young *
Jim Morrison, why'd you die in France *
Come on babe light my fire
Come on babe light my fire
If I'd have lit your fire
I'd have gone with you then
Try to set the night on fire!
It would have done us both in

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar

We'd already set the night on fire
If I was to say to you
Girl we couldn't get much higher.
Come on babe light my fire
Come on babe light my fire
Try to set the night on fire,
Try to set the night on fire,
Try to set the night on fire,
Try to set the night on fire!
    Fire, fire, fire!
        Fire, fire, fire!
            Fire, fire, fire!

Notes:
   1. *  I wrote in person of Jim Morrison's girlfriend, Pamela Courson. She adored him but he died on her while they were in France and was buried there. She died three years later in California, with her plaque reading ""Pamela Susan Morrison 1946–1974", even though "Morrison" was never part of Courson's legal name."
I wove her poem between the lines of "Light My Fire" in blue while Morrison's words were in black with a White background

    2. "Morrison was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, one of the city's most visited tourist attractions, where Irish playwright Oscar Wilde, French cabaret singer Édith Piaf, and many other poets and artists are also buried. The grave had no official marker … See more

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 14 -- and Kilmer's Tree -- a Poem for Friday Writings

        Teacher's Way

Teacher said, write a poem due Friday
So I wrote my heart out that evening
Didn't tell my mom, no help wanted

I used most all I'd learned in Grammar
Knew not poetry writing was taught
Mine showing sentences diagrammed

That wasn't how the teacher wanted
She liked nursery rhymes and songs to sing
Monday morning we compared to trees

Learned of Joyce Kilmer--tree was a poem
Learned, grammar is nothing like a tree
Learned poetry is more fun to write

Learned "I think I shall never see a Poem ... "
Learned, I think, how to use 'Metaphors"

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 09, a Love Poem Sonnet, also with The Sunday Muse

Love's Sweet Song

Do ra me fa so la, so sings your song
You are sweet music to my yearning ears
Before we had met my heart was a void
Empty, waiting for you to come along

When I first saw you my heart heard your song
A sweet tune, melody it recognized
Picked up by my organs, liver, stomach
Eyes and ears, they're calling to me, loudly,

"Give her a look, she's like her song, so sweet"
I took their word--sang back my song to you
Your heart picked up my tune replied to me
I was so glad, very, you'd noticed me

Do ra me fa so la, it's you and me
I love your all, you've made my life complete
