When lovers and nice things are gone

The Dystopian Tarot, The Lovers
Kerry O'Connor

https://kerryoconnorsother.blogspot.com/

Back to square one;
a Dystopian poem

Technology's losing it today
Planes are falling from the sky
It's big dishes are on the ground
Removing you and me comes next

What we'll have left is innocent child
Eyes wide open and wondering of things
Things that were, we had it so good
Now everything has come to Glum

  - Kerry has left a piece of her Dystopian art on her blog for you to see.   It is also supposed to be inspiration for our writing.
 - Flash Writing traditionally has 55 Words as does this one not counting the title words.
  - SQUINT your eyes and in the PICTURE you can see the innocent little girl shining through as being in the background.

a Wordy Poem for Thursday Morning

Looking around;
 What do I see?

The situation:
(Sitting in the edge of the bed
Directed poem I'll try to write
Directions were look around you
And write of what all you can see)

What is going on?
TV's on old "Murder she wrote"
Playing quite loud like when I came
Sleep timer's set for one hour.
It'll turn off when I'm asleep

Who is there?
Misses sleeping here when I came
Sleeping soundly her pill helped that
Not snoring now later she might
Two alarms set quarter to six

What else?
Those are the majors but there's more
Magazine handy I'll not read
Jumbo puzzle to solve or save
Piled pillow blankets I'll not need

Time to quit:
Now I've written my sixteen lines
Turn off the light and shut my eyes

Anything else?
Thank the Lord for what all I've seen

Day 30 (of 30 days) -- NaPoWriMo -- I Finished !!! (one a day for 30 days)

Nibbles Excessive

Thin little stick of sweet
Candy treat for sugar starved
One nibble at a time

Those love bites are repaid
Potassium shortage
 Brings about heart problems

Licorice glut bitten back

     - Anmol's suggestions, "Write a poem in praise of a source of inspiration — your muse, your life, your own web of thoughts, your dreams or sleeplessness, your daily tasks, a favourite artist or musician, nature and environment, et al. Also, let's keep it between 30-60 words — there is a certain beauty in brevity after all."  I have 30 words plus two for the title, total of 32 words.
     - I used to be a Licorice glut myself but since the FDA has issued a warning of the dangers of "Black licorice contains the sweetening compound glycyrrhizin, which can decrease potassium levels in the body, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. That temporary potassium deficiency can cause abnormal heart rhythms, high blood pressure, and even congestive heart failure. Oct 31, 2017" from a Google search of "licorice health issues."
     - Obviously I do not have a package of licorice candy for picture taking, this is Red Chewy stick picture has lots of regular sugar and is made by the leading distributer of Licorice.  I have not tasted Licorice in about 15 years.

Day 29 -- NaPoWriMo 2019 - What, when, how, if, why?? -- A Monday Poem for You

    When I wonder;
    not your ordinary book of Wonders;
    we never finish asking

When I wonder how it would feel
like to be squashed by a Giant
I think of me squashing an errant ant

    When I wonder ...

When I wonder what the wonders
of the world were like in their day
Colossus of Rhodes--think of Kids Artwork

When I wonder what it'd be like
to smoke a joint of Mary Jane
If it were legal when I might have tried

When I wonder when one should yield
grow old and gray and act that way
I ask the Misses but she's of no help

    When I wonder ...

     - I'm not an expert but I do have a couple of encyclopedia supplements called The Book of Wonders (1920's and 1960's editions).  And I have visited five of places of the Seven Wonders of the (Ancient) World (google search) but not to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus or the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (ISIS has probably recently destroyed this one) and four of the New 7 Wonders.
     - Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (again from google search, above)

    Day 28 -- NaPoWriMo 2019

    Reimagined

Unidentified Woman ca. 1950's - Walter Silver Photographs

    In the Box

At best for now she has a cat
She's always wanted a yellow one
But how it came about raises brows

Walking down the road hot sweaty
Blue blouse slung over her shoulder
Was wishing now she'd worn her bra

Blouse shouldered as the pickup slowed
She'd take a ride hope he would
Would keep roaming hands to himself

Wonders were blessing her that day
Old pickup the driver was slight
    "It's a girl my Lord"** I'm okay

Long blond hair--would you like a ride
It's way to hot for you to walk
Panicky now no girl at all

Shy girl she wasn't good with men
No escape she found small talk come
    Hottest day ever still April

    Curiosity held in check
Didn't ask what was in the box
Sitting between them on the seat

Noises, the box soon came forefront
I'm taking my cat to the pound
Moved I can't keep him any more

He had to go there's no place else
    Silence overcame them thinking
He seemed so nice and well behaved

    Scheming woman she never been
But women have their subtle ways
Might it help if I would keep him

Yes yes would you please I'd much like
His things are packed and in back
Let's change numbers and keep in touch
