Kurt Cobain - a Poem for dVerse Poetics

Kurt Cobain with Nirvana in 1992

  Salam's Lot; new tenants coming

My little darling, mother of my child
Oh that I would join you in new abode
Living you were sweet, we had ups and downs
You were atop the world, I mostly down

But we cried and cursed together, huddled
Huddled where the witches were not welcome
They corpses, come back to haunt me and her
And now you've gone, of your own accord

Will you be like they, those of long long past
Oh that I would join you, I will, I will
You now, "a down payment on another
One at Salems's lot"*, pretty witch of late

*Stephen Kings novel, 'Salem's Lot has to do with my own disillusionment and consequent fear for the future. In a way, it is more closely related to Invasion of the Body Snatchers than it is to Dracula. The fear behind 'Salem's Lot seems to be that the Government has invaded (Quote of King, Wikipedia) everybody.[9](Quote of King, Wikipedia [URL])

Annoying Song Lyrics -- a Poem for Friday Writings

                Sidewalk Leveler

"Sidewalk leveler, sidewalk leveler . . ." Those words
Repeated over and over again
Over and over, those words come some more
"Sidewalk leveler, sidewalk leveler . . ." They come
    Annoying

I am so glad, I am so very glad
Glad that tune has not become my ear worm
Like Mark Twain's train conductor's little song
"Punch brother punch, punch in the presence of
the passenger"
    Annoying

"Ear worm," a tune repeated, repeated
"Punch brother, punch in the presence of
the passenger." Like TV's blaring song
"Sidewalk leveler, sidewalk leveler, . ." remains
    Still today

Twain's was long long ago, before our time
Way before the term, "Ear Worm" was around
    Can pass it on

Note:  The "Leverer" song was a clever but monotonous way this person's company attracts attention to its TV advertisement.  Uneven sidewalks around here are the responsibility of the property owner to even up to prevent tripping by pedestrians.  Mostly one section will rise or sink out of proportion to the adjacent piece.

Time, time to ... -- another Poem for Tuesday

Time, Three Ladies in a ...

Rub dub, Dub Dub Dub, Three Ladies Lying
Lying in the bed, with all their clothes on
Perhaps their shoes are under the bed, eh?

One is recovering from surgery
Bunion surgery of all ails, fitting
Fitting the lifestyles for which she has lived

Would you know which one, which lady
Only one for this time, her time for sure
Time for everything, Toe restoration

Three generations, grandmother, daughter
With the granddaughter stuck in the middle
Daughter had those crutches ready, her time

'Nuf said about that, what have they done there
Didn't eat a meal, nor sing any songs
No jumping on the bed, one's not ready

They read books, talked, two watched "The Price is Right"
Then I came along, they posed for pictures
It was their time, who is there to complain

 - And on November I, 2022  posted for Friday Writings # 51 with Rosemary's new Prompt, the word "Three", at
 - Sanaa introduced us to T.S. Eliot's final long poem collection, of four poems called "Four Quartets".  He was seeing some dismal times and times for hope, much of it during the earlier days of WWII.  I plan to read it.
_ King Solomon of old, Old Testament Bible times, wrote his dismal outlook poem, Ecclesiastes, which became a Book of the Christian BibleChapter three is about time, I liked "a time for living, a time for dying" probably best: (link)
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; ...
... 11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life."
 - The Byrds, in Turn, Turn, Turnalso wrote a song about time (the lyrics), much of it is a quote from Ecclesiastes 3.  You will recognize it:

 - Now I plan to go hide, read my T.S, Eliot book, Practical Cats, a collection of his Cat Poems.  And soon also I will watch a video of the Musical, "Cats" which uses many of the poems from this book.  I might even read some Eliot's book, "Four Quartets", read Ecclesiastes 3, and listen over and over to this Byrds' song.  Oh yes and read other writing from the links posted on the Imaginary Garden today.  Thank You Sanaa.

        Your Gun

Go shooting up the town
Will it make your revenge?
Getting even for them
They've been mistreating you

That for a short moment
Seems to fix the world

Later on you'll be caught
Or maybe at the scene
Then you'll lose your freedom
And perhaps lose your life

Sons, leave your guns at home

Sunday Muse -- My Love

     Unlike the Cats

Kitten*, you've nine lives seven yet to spare
I don't count my lives instead I count loves
So far I've had three sweet and romantic
For a moment, Kitten, I'll tell you those

"Burning Love" Art by Diggie Vitt

My first love we "set the woods on fire" *
Our burning flames "couldn't get much higher" *
Fires can't burn forever even love's
And when those burning  flames went out we crashed

By Ralf Czekalla & Art

Came a love flooded with admiration
She loved my uniform called me flyer
Flew up the hills down into the valleys
Love dripping from the sky falling on us

Degreed and holding good jobs met at work
Cubicles abutting played footsie 'neath
Peers called us "love birds with spouses at home"
That world came crashing down sunk in the mire

"Waiting for Better Days" by Matthias-Haker

Kitten*, I know better days soon will come
I like you a lot might they be with you

* Notes: (1) "Light my Fire" by the Doors, (click Listen/Lyrics also ?)
             (2)  "Kitten" use here is as a term of affection

Friday Writings - Keep that boy

Did your mother teach

Did your mother teach you that
Did she teach you how
How to skin a cat
How to boil a duck
Did your mother teach

Did your mother teach you that
Did she teach you how
How to meet a boy
How to keep a boy
Did your mother teach

Did your mother teach you that
Did she teach you how
Give him lovin' he needs
For sure he'll love you back
Did your mother teach

Did your mother teach you that
Did she teach you how
How to keep that boy
How you feed him well
Did your mother teach

Did your mother teach you that
Did she teach you how
Give him your lovin' all
Feed well keep doing it
He'll stay on forever
Love you back, your mother taught

Sunday Muse - Music

"Self-Portrait With Accordion"
by artist Guido Vedovato

            The Accordion Player

Using my assets and talents best I can

Hands and Feet--be my most useable features

Large hands perfectly covering the octaves

Fingers nimble large and long tickling the keys

These feet tapping to the beat they're keeping time

Parts you cannot see, my lungs and vocal cords

Voice seems made for yodeling and calling cows

Songs I play and sing echo among the hills

Mountain top to mountain top down to valleys

Valleys below, crowds and the lone sheep herders

I play my accordion au natural

plainly and precise--Nature can understand

I love Nature and her ways, she loves me too

Small fellow, Red Fox with white face, stays with me

But Sundays I'm at church to play the organ

Oh, I play for weddings too.  Could it be yours?

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day 26 -- Chili Dog

[This is not a Chili Cheddar Cheese Dog
it is a French Hot Dog, made in France.
There the true sausage is stuffed inside
a French Baguette cut to just over the
length of the wiener/sausage]

[to the tune of the Oscar Meyer Wiener Song]

I wish I were a Chili Cheddar Cheese Dog
That is what I truly wish to be
Cause if I were a Chili Cheddar Cheese Dog
Everyone would want two or three
Oh everyone would get so fat
Everyone would be Rolly Polly

 - - - -

 - Poem is a Parody Copyright, Jimmiehov 2021, All Rights Reserved

 - The original song:
I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Wiener
That is what I truly wish to be
Cause if I were a Oscar Mayer Wiener
Everyone would be in love
Oh everyone would be in love
Everyone would be in love with me

 - And I am attempting to write at least one poem a day for the National Poem Writing Month. Today is Day 26 of the 30, you can see my progress here,

 - Instructions were, ". . . like to challenge you to write a parody. Besides being fun, writing parodies can be a great way to hone your poetic skills – particularly your sense of rhyme and sound, as you try to mimic the form of an existing poem while changing the content. Just find a poem – or a song – that has always annoyed you, and write an altered, silly version of it. Or, alternatively, find a poem with a very particular rhyme scheme or form, and use that scheme/form as the basis for a poem that mocks something else."

Up and Down ~~ a Poem of Fire for The Sunday Muse

   Image: Brooke Shaden

The Night

We're setting the night on fire
You sing we'll get a lot higher
To the left rise above the smoke
Smoke ruins brain cells of the dolts

Higher and higher, light the night
Come with me and we'll make the light
Feed the birds we'll soar with sparrows
We'll not come down till the morrow

Burn burn burn we cuddle and play
Sing and dance burn the night away
Drive down main street cruise with the fold
There'll come a day when we're to old

When we come down don't hit the ground
In to the day glide together

A Poem for Sunday

It's That Time;
  a polar bear love song

Wake up Momma
it's that time once again
Spring Moon has risse
baby making time

I've missed you so
your shaggy white bod
That tender nose
lovely in all ways

I dreamt of you
alone in your cave
That lovely snore
I'd pass now and then

You're awake and
the ice is flowing
Hop on a hunk
first lets kiss once more

Travel to where
salmon are spawning
Sitting so close
Make love all the way

A Music Inspired Poem for Marian ~~ a Tribute to her

Sweet Love;
  save me

"Your sweet love is gonna save me" *
I been runnin' wild with the boys
Trouble has been my middle name
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Been runnin' wild, whiskey and gin
That's no help, I get wilder still
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Tame me good, I need your lovin'
Let us try, one sweet kiss goes far
Jails don't fix me, out I'm the same

Your sweet love is gonna save me
Slow me down and please take me home
Spend some time I'll make us coffee
Jails don't fix me, but your love can

Your sweet love can save me tonight
One kiss from you can make me tame
Please get to know me, I'm alright
We'll go slow, your sweet love save me

"Take It Easy"
Eagles Lyrics, 1972
https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eagles/takeiteasy-1972.html

Well, I'm a-running down the road
Tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me
Two that wanna stone me
One says she's a friend of mine

Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy

Well, I'm a-standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord
In a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me

Come on, baby
Don't say "Maybe"
I gotta know
If your sweet love
Is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
Though we will never be here again
So open up, I'm climbin' in
So take it easy

Well, I'm running down the road
Trying to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover
Who won't blow my cover
She's so hard to find

Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on, baby
Don't say "Maybe"
I gotta know
If your sweet love
Is gonna save me

Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

A short Poem for the Weekend prompt, Groovy

I was running;
trying to dodge

I was running my paper route
trying to dodge water puddles
If one hit I'd cringe and then try
to do better the next few times

Sis couldn't come with this morning
little bug bit her ear she cried
She wasn't tough like a fellow
my kind--girls are made syrupy

Syrupy I don't mind one bit
'cause I do like their company
Together we drive down the road
throwing papers 'feeling groovy'
.

Simon & Garfunkel - The 59th Street Bridge Song (1967) (Feelin' Groovy).wmv

"The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)"

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy

Hello, lamppost, what'cha knowin'?
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't'cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in doo-doo, feelin' groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy

I got no deeds to do
No promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you
All is groovy

Poem for a Thursday Challenge (everybody gonna shine)

My Music Love

My music love is not the kind
of today.  Rather much older
Rolling Stones and Beatles I find
Oldies radio played bolder

Youth to thirty-five jive to beat
Video goes with--they have need
Eagles, Janis Joplin, my treat
Our marriage, a "Proud Mary" theme
 _ _ _

"(We)* thumbed that diesel down
Me and Bobby McGee..."
into New Orleans town
We'll shine you wait and see

*(note) Janis and me

New Year's end, a bad day for some

Summer's End;
the Big Chill

"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"**
It's a tough world out there real sad at times
I'd like to have been there to sooth your fear
For most peace starts new when they ring the chimes
.
"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"
The longer you cry the longer it will
Will take for that new start I feel you want
With Sumer's end we went apart-Big Chill
.
"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"
But I loved you then I do now please know
And I hope you might feel the same towards me
Now don't you cry those hot tears melt the snow
.
I loved you then love you still please come back
We'll give Year's Eve a glorious comeback
