Mini Challenge Portraiture Poem

Those Hippie Days

It's been a long time ago now
Way back early seventies

Looking the part, a hippie queen
Pert, smart and smiles pretty too

Knew her before we met, her type
Rode a bike she traveled light

At the foot of the stairs to wait
Parked her bike and yellow dog

Barefoot, cutoff jeans, straggly hair
Looked the part this Hippie queen

I don't remember who sat first
Empty seat between, back row

Differential Equations class
Back there she read History

I learned my Calculus so so
Smart girl she got A's in both

We chummed now and then pleasant girl
Our end at semester's end

New Year's end, a bad day for some

Summer's End;
the Big Chill

"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"**
It's a tough world out there real sad at times
I'd like to have been there to sooth your fear
For most peace starts new when they ring the chimes
.
"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"
The longer you cry the longer it will
Will take for that new start I feel you want
With Sumer's end we went apart-Big Chill
.
"... And New Year's Eve ... bound to leave you cryin'"
But I loved you then I do now please know
And I hope you might feel the same towards me
Now don't you cry those hot tears melt the snow
.
I loved you then love you still please come back
We'll give Year's Eve a glorious comeback

WeekEND worries -- a Poem for Tuesday

Did the Earth Just Shake?

If I would make a wish
That never will come true
My life could end minutes
After screaming world's end
Watch and enjoy the sights

BTW, never have I
Ever fallen off my horse
Preakness jockey did today
Might the world come to its end
