My Friend ~~ a Challenge Poem

Burlap

There's nothing fine about my friend, Burlie
She's coarser than a mama goat's rough hide
and can swear like a cowman when she wants
Burlie rolls her own; chews and dips outside

Real name is Burlap, fighting words to her
She drives her pickup truck like a cowboy
in, out and through traffic, holding her reins
Roping calves child's play, bovine is her toy

Don't you dare even hint of a dreaded bag
"Burly Bag" in ear range she'll hear, and heave
you right into that sack, then stomp you good
Given all that she's sweet candy with me.

Challenge Poem (not a bah humbug)

No U-turns

I want a turn, when will my turn be?
You don't get a turn, you've been naughty

O please, let me have my turn today
Sorry fugly, there's no turn for you

No need to call me names, please refrain
That's the limit, I will hear no more

Please, please, I'll be good forever(more)
You're at the edge of my patience, go

I've done nothing to you, you're my friend
Leave, you've hit the bottom, close the door

Wheels that turn
Not a cookie cutter blog

Christmas Comes ~~ a Whirligig poem

. .  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

Christmas;
time to celebrate Jesus' birthday

brown is a five letter word

Some of my very best friends

white, red, black, brown, or yellow

Read their palms, Jesus loves all

born to die to save the world

Today Christians burnt for Him

consonants and vowels we

Like windows, visible and

unmarked and vulnerable

sins forgiven by our God

paint these words, out of the pant-

ry, "Jesus died for my sin!"

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "Ghazal for White Hen Pantry" by Jamila Woods: brown, friends, white, palm, born, burnt, consonants, windows, unmarked, sins, paint, pantry.  They are underlined in my 'poem' and you can see I used all twelve words.

Bob-tailed Nag -- another Challenge poem

Bob-tailed Nag

Gotta get you a bob-tailed nag
Buy you one, make sure she will trot
Buy you a crotceted green oat bag
One that won't scare your horse, sure not

Gotta get you a bob-tailed nag
Buy her a sleigh, nice two seater
Buy you some bells, let her reins sag
Go find your friend, bells to greet her

Glad you got you a bob-tailed nag
Ride with friend, lunch, Sunday special
You two will eat, back in your rig
Park past the meadow, get social

Let her there graze, your bob-tailed nag
There with your friend, sweet time to spend
Tongues talk, not horse, no tail to wag
Life course setting, you and your friend

Her post there to link with is Take Two and Sing (We); the Weekend Mini-Challenge

Instructions there: "Think of a song--preferably a song of the season, a Christmas carol, Hanukah or Winter or truly any other song--and pick two consecutive words out of it."  Then go for it with a writing.
I used Jingle Bells, last stanza and refrain, the words, bob-tailed nag,

"Now the ground is white, so go it while you're young
Take the girls tonight and sing this sleighing song
Just get a bob-tailed nag, two-forty for his speed
Then hitch him to an open sleigh and crack, you'll take the lead

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way"

BTW, a bob-tail is an animal's tail that has been surgically made to be very short.
AND, I know, horses tails 'swish', not 'wag'.  But swish doesn't rhyme.
The snow picture is from the back yard of the home we just moved FROM.
