The Daughter - a Poem for the Sunday Muse

She was her father's girl
Carried his image where she went
Girl was the 'apple of his eye'
School girl one if there ever was

Day and night carried that image
Flowers in hand for her teacher
Haven where father couldn't go
Jealous he stayed at home

This her special day
Girl had reached her sixteenth birthday
Be a young woman when she wished
Every lady remembers that

Was day to leave her daddy home
Stayed with her image in his mind
Surprise surprise boys noticed her
Looks in eyes she'd not seen before

Days young men's fancy turns to love
Sixteen changed vision changed passions

Woman of her own desires

Kissing and Voting - a Poem for Friday Writings

Apple Decides; Tells;
or what does it?

Twist the apple stem
she loves me she loves me not
(repeat) She loves me ...
When the stem breaks we will know

I'm tired of this game
I've been tired since the first grade
Led to storm cellar
Show me yours I'll show you mine

Strict Republicans
and Liberal Democrats
We vote, ballots filled
When count is in then we'll know

Majority wins
most of times but not always

Good Prevails? - a Write for Poetics dVerse

Night Beneath Streetlight by Jimmiehov

Day and night

Day and night,
In the light and in the dark
Does day and light prevail
Night and in the dark may spell trouble

Crimes at night when the bad prowl
and the upright are laying in sleep
Technology brings light to the night
Yet the bad find dark corners
and snuff the lights

Good and bad extend their window
Artificial and flame bring light
Then it's night with light
Averages and trends
smooth these things out

The most important I know
is right from wrong
I, as all should, try
to always do right
