April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 22 --  Doctor's Advice -- and a Poem for Sunday Muse

“Pointlessness” by Fine Art Photographyer Lara Zankoul

Her Mistake

She doesn't understand her doctor's cure
She takes his advice literally
He's told her the fix for her jitters
That would be for her to get her broom

She's to take her broom and bucket
Go to the edge of the sea
Sweep the sand, dump it into the sea
When she has finished find another

She took his advice literally
Didn't understand his metaphors

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 21 -- and "Time" for a Write for Friday Writings

        Keeping Time

It has been said, “time affects all things”
Between you and me that's all hooey
I have "time" in the house most every room
Micky Mouse, digital, wall, and stove

Seems every "time" I need my flashlight
I have to find it, no place of it's own
Songs like "time", they make use several "times"
"You picked a fine "time" to leave me," Lucy

Lunch "time" is the best, my mom comes to mind,
"Have fireman lunch today, dessert first"

 - The bottom clock is in Dubrovnik, Croatia and the Hall Clock above is ours, old English, 1800s, we have clocks in most every room.

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 20 -- a Poem that Garbage Tells

   Garbology from Afar

Garbologists no longer
are holding their noses
so keep those clothespins
for the museums

Technology and archeology
sciences have emerged to
change garbologists way of
obtaining humanity's past

Predictions are now
showing that the earth will
end by one large snuff

Like snuffing a candle one
large pinch will come
in our lifetime

It will drop from the sky into
one deep and smelly abyss
like one crumb falls from the
cracker

Never to be found, as the
crumb waiting for a
South American ant

When that ant, larger than
the world's largest creature,
will swallow it with one large
gulp

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 19 -- a Poem of Scares, then and now

My sister sewing up Adi's (my Beagle dog) Teddy Bear
[click on the picture for a larger size]

        Scary Things

There's two scary things in my life
There's one for my little sister
one for me, both tamed, still around

Monster Boogie Man honored well
To this day Sis peeks 'neath her bed
Knowing he's not there peeks in case

She was about five, makes me ten
I told about that monster
Boogie Man hides 'neath children's beds

Seems all my life but not really
Still go to sleep with dim light on
Since I was young not liked the dark

Had my sister walk me at night
Outhouse in back of chicken house
Young, I was afraid of the dark

I'd bribe her, let her hold the light
Remains a small guilt 'cause I told

April -- NaPoWriMo 2023 Day 18 -- My Cat - and a dVerse Poem for Poetics

            Cat in the Window

Cat in the window, yes we could go out
Out where there's giants, giants and monsters
They'd outrun your legs, small legs carry you

You think there's there, food on the wild
Birds and mice for you, those are scarce for cats
Monsters, giants, hawks, the bane of all cats

Harness I could buy, put you on a lease
We tried that before, that you did not like
You balked, wouldn't walk, be different this time?

Best view from the house, I say "you stay there"

        Danger Wheel

Big Wheel turns and I'm not on it

Round and round it goes up and 'round

My love is there thinks safe and sound

She sits, with her “brother”, she says

Revolutions she does not count

Not while he's there, him I like not

A modern Ferris wheel was at our county fair Texas rodeo, the County Fair at Brenham, Texas, on September 17, 2010 .  It was the first one we had seen in a long time, this time we went on request.  We had a guest from France, friend of our son, who had wanted to see a bull riding contest.  She was not disappointed.

We have ridden on this old 1923 Ferris wheel, it belonged to a fellow in our car club.  And yes, one time it stopped working while we were on top.  It took quite a while to get us off, I'm not real sure how we passed our time up there.
