NaPoWriMo 2021 Day Ten - What

[ My photo -- Along South Africa  Highway ]

 Rain drops and door knobs

You can hear the rain drops

Falling on my tin roof

I'm looking for something

But I don't know what it is

Not to keep the rain away

Cause I kinda like it that way

I'm looking for something

but I don't know what it is

Got doorknobs on my mind

Looking through the drawer

Those doorknobs are in my head

In my head and they won't go away

Rain on my tin roof

sweet music in my ear

But I've got doorknobs in my head

Doorknobs are turning now

Turn one to let you in

But close the door behind you

We can't let the rain come in

Its falling on my tin roof

Noise louder than

my washing machine

Raindrops falling

Doorknobs turning

Washing machine

Tin roof patter

And you come in

That's the melody

Singing in my head

No meaning to me

Perhaps you'd better stay

I'm looking for something

But I don't know what it is

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day Nine - The To-Do Bucket List

I'm making my list

It won't be my last but it is for my last.  My list has oft been revised but here goes afresh.

My 2021 Bucket List to date (Listed in order of enjoyability and necessity combined and sometimes is  contradictory):

Travel

 - plan cruises (Amazon River, Suez Canal, Caribbean, Trans Atlantic or Pacific)

 - visit relatives in Iowa, Nebraska, Louisiana, Tennessee, possibly Oregon (??)

 - Noah's Ark in Kentucky and/or Turkey

Medical

 - finish healing as possible my broken toe

 - hearing assistance

 - new upper teeth bridge

 - health maintenance appointments

Professional

 - start and complete my CLE

 - visit and/or join local bar association

Pleasure

 - start playing golf again

 - start playing chess again

 - get my Ford Mustang on the road again

 - schedule grandkid activities

Major spending

 - keep estimates of other items on this list

 - keep good records of all large item expenditures

Family

 - update our will

 - help the Misses with get-together plans

 - try to involve family members in other items

The Home

 - possible downstairs A/C component replacements

 - complete landscaping because of the major February freeze

 - repaint where needed

Cars

 - get the 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible  going again

 - get the 1974 Ford Mustang II Ghia going again or sell it

 - find replacement for the family car or keep it for a while longer -- it has lasted for 145,000 miles so far

Organizations

 - attend lodge meeting or

 - visit local lodge

 - volunteer for three more years church duty (or not)

 - find and participate for golf, possibly chess, senior groups

Miscellany

 - check with the state the if's and how's property in escheat

 - consider and plan for downsizing $$$'s and living arrangements that some seniors do

 - - - -

This sounds like plenty "To-do" for old retired folk, one is far past OBE.  I hope you've enjoyed reading my Bucket List.  You may wish to formally make your own.

Oh yes, over the years my list and things to consider have changed.  Example, I've dropped visiting the South Pole, Antarctica, we were close enough by sailing around the Cape Horn and then up to The Falcon Islands.   Also Ireland and Italy already frown on my age visitors for driving.  And we've been to all 50 states already here at home.

See you all, call me, we might visit you or go along cruising with you.

 - Our writing assignment for today was to write a To-Do "List Poem".   For me that verges on an Oxymoron as for sure my list isn't very poetic sounding.

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day Eight - a Tribute/Self Eulogy/Anthology

Body Outline; Lower Right (click for larger)
[my south of Cape Town, S. Africa Beach photo]

The Day I Died

That day was mournful for me, and

Day right after I died

I had no funeral, no mourners weeping

Hardly a soul knew I died except perhaps those who

missed me, the ones who were on the streets a lot,

as there I strolled.  I was friendly, a friendly chap

As we met there under sun or lights

I offered my hand to you

Only Jim, Jim a high school student

He would shake my hand every time we met,

that made my day

But Jim didn't know I died, nobody did

except those who scoop the dead from the streets

Everybody in town almost knew my name

I was, and still am, Charley, Charley Frame

I have no tombstone nor any marker on my grave

For my life there is nothing left to see

There is just me, and perhaps Jim

Jim who sees in his memory.

We shook hands.

Always did.

 - There our suggested writing prompt was to write "a monologue delivered by someone who is dead. Not a famous person, necessarily – perhaps a . . ."  I wrote of a fellow, I cannot remember his name.  This is practically a true story, there may have been a few others who shook his hand that he always offered.

 - NaPoWriMo guidelines for today were:  ". . . the Fib is a six-line form, the syllable count is based off the Fibonacci sequence of 1/1/2/3/5/8. You can  link multiple Fibs together into a multi-stanza poem, or even start going backwards after your first six lines, with syllable counts of 8/5/3/2/1/1. Perhaps you remember the Fibonacci sequence from math or science class – or even from nature walks. Lots of things in the natural world hew to the sequence – like pinecones and flower petals. And now your poems can, too."  [I broke rules slightly, as I went the seventh line with 13 syllables, I still call it a Fib(onacci) poem.]

Fibonacci Number (per google search)

Fibonacci Number
In mathematics, the Fibonacci numbers, commonly denoted Fₙ, form a sequence, called the Fibonacci sequence, such that each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, starting from 0 and 1. That is, and for n > 1. The beginning of the sequence is thus: Under some older definitions, the value F₀=0 is omitted, so that the sequence starts with F₁=F₂=1, and the recurrence Fₙ=Fₙ₋₁+Fₙ₋₂ is valid for n > 2.

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day Six - an Acrostic

[My Photo]

'I sighed, "I wish I could remember what happened."'

 A M N E S I A

Amnesia is not fun
Memory like disease
Never in my book of likes
Ever since my accident
Since then I know, not before
I wish I knew you--my bride
Amnesia took me from

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day Five -- Poem - Place

[my photo]

Place Where I Could GoJim Hovendick a.k.a. Jimmiehov

Of all the places I could go  would be France, St. Remy, Provence
I'd see again haunts of Van Gogh It would be the Olive Gardens within a walk to his sickroom, call it that; sanatorium I’ve been there before, Olive Grove—
the view below outside his room.
There a hole, once was a nice ear the one that he'd cut off himself off in an instant , then regretsbarking dogs ate it as it was, entered, admitted his own self.Asked them fix his hole and his mind perhaps he'd treat his bod better.

[my photo of Van Gogh's artwork at Centre d'Art Presence Van Gogh Saint-Remy-de-Provence]

Notes:  1. I used the first letter of each line below from Natalie Shapero's poem (below), Pennsylvania, to write my poem above with the same first letter as per the NaPoWriMo prompt linked below. 2. I took "Poet's Liberty", I doubt the dogs ate his cut off ear, not soon at least.

Pennsylvania

Natalie Shapero

Other children, when I was a child, would at times invoke the inner light—I misunderstood.I thought it meant God scorcheswithin us, and God, like a torch, can go out. That was so long ago.I’ve since ceased my believing in death—there’s no such thing. There’s only a kind of brownout, the whole of the globe turningoff for a moment, then shudderingback, the same as it was, except one person short. And then before long, an utter newperson is born. Somebody worse.

NaPoWriMo 2021, Day Four ~~ Sunday Muse ~~ My Mirror

Reflections

I look every time I leave the house

And ask, Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Please, what do you see for me today

Then I hold my breath for its response

like

Will it be breakfast at Joe's Diner

Will my important client be there

Will my shoes be shined my tie be straight

Will the client sign the dotted line

or

When can I come to your house again

The coffee was sublime, waffles too

When will you let me come flowers in hand

lots more questions

How, what, would, which, where, why

questions my mirror might answers tell
