Word List Easter Poem -- NaPoWriMo 2022 Day Sixteen

   One day in May

Passover had come late that year
It was Friday, her friend was killed
This third day was going to be
the saddest day in her short life
Sunday morning without breakfast
Moonlight, Mary trudged to his grave

Crazy guy, said he'd live through death
Slowly, with tears, tomb she approached
Really bad, twas vacant!  Empty!
Angel sitting near gave the news

"He has risen!!"

NOTE:  This is a modernized true poem according to Christian, of which I am, beliefs which we celebrate on Easter Sunday.   Jesus, Son of God come to earth in form of a man, died, was killed by Crucifixion but rose from his grave three days later.
In your Bible, Luke 24:6-7.

 - I am linked with NaPoWriMo 2022 Day Sixteen for form, the Curtal Sonnet, prompting suggestion,
 - I am also linked with Shay at the Sunday  Muse for her Garden Word List prompt with 20 word from which to choose,
. . . . .
 - Our NaPoWriMo 2022 prompt today is to write a Curtal Sonnet. It has eleven lines, instead of the usual fourteen, and the last line is shorter than the ten that precede it.
 - Shay's words for us, "our aim here is to use these words as a starting point for work of our own.  Please use at least 3 of the 20 words on the list in an original poem, then link, and visit others. Enjoy.
 Now, your list:
altered;  breakfast;  church;  dreary;  fetch;  garland;  grave;  harness;  humming;  laurel,  May;  moonlight;  rainy;  sheep;  shiver;  sloe;  slough;  stem;  vacant; and willows."
 - The five words I used are breakfast, grave, May, moonlight,  and vacant.
 - According to "Britannica" the Curtal Sonnet refers specifically to a sonnet of 11 lines rhyming abcabc dcbdc or abcabc dbcdc with the last line a tail, or half a line.
According to modern technics I did not use rhyme, but I did use eight syllable lines for Syllabic Form.

Dolls and Toys -- NaPoWriM 2022 Day Fifteen

    Be My Paper Doll

Boys have toys
That's well known
And when they grow older
some they still own
I don't mean their Porsches
and electronics

Ones they might keep for play
like down on the floor or
up on a table top
While others are keepsakes
of which they never play

So now I'll tell of mine
Some I still have some are
out in a grove
Like my steel wheelbarrow wheel,
or rusting behind a barn
Others were only in my mind
though I never owned
That would be the electric train
I found every Christmas time
It stays in the store or Sears catalog
or on my cousin's shelf

Teddy bears and trucks and cars
Most every marble I've ever
had resting in an old crank churn
The tin monkey that knows
his multiplication table through twelve

Six Match Box cars on my dresser
lined up ready to race and
my gyroscope in its box
A wooden box with my wood box and
My Shirley Temple scrape book
that Mom and I filled
An old cast iron taxi my sister
bought sort of like the one
I had when small
There's my Dick Tracy camera
I'd ordered from Chicago

And a few others I haven't told

There's one I played with
but never owned
And NEVER WILL
That's the paper dolls
Ones like I played with
while visiting my cousins

I would cut out clothes for the dolls to wear
When we ran out then we'd find some more in the Sears and Wards catalogs
Doing all that was fun

But now I've no desire for them
No desire to even play
let alone own
There is an exception
But still, I would be FAKING IT
That's if a GRANDAUGHTER
wanted me to play
Paper Dolls

Oh yes, I forgot to tell of,
my trusty Red Ryder BB Gun,
it still shoots
And my Snow Sled
hanging on a garage wall,
we have no snow in our
Gulf Coast part of Texas

A long scene panning across a verdant plain? You’re the director (and also the producer, the actors, the set designer, the cinematographer, and the lowly assistant that buys doughnuts for the crew) – so it’s all up to you! Ju

Happy writing!

Living -- NaPoWriM 2022 Day Thirteen

      ["Perfection is Boring"]

     On Edge; what if

People say, "She's living on the edge"
What that says I have no idea
I only know the world ends with me
It goes no further there is no more

It's only me in this crazy world
Me and three other dearly loved ones
Those would be Honey and my parents
Yes and my dog and cat to the list

Live for us six or is it we six?
Though not for me to worry about
Doctors and vets worry for them
I worry for me the pets a bit

Mostly I worry 'bout falling off
Off the edge of the world I might fall

And if I fall who would cry for me
Just those five it would be Count me out

Below is the entire picture of Vika's picture, "Perfection is Boring".  As you can see I viciously cropped the portion that inspired me to write of one living on "The Edge of the World".  The topic seemed wide open for my Muse, from we chose what you saw at the beginning.

Balls -- NaPoWriMo 2022 Day Twelve

             Two Balls

One was large one was small
Today is for the small
She was short he was tall
Today she is Queen Ball

Exercise aids they are
He's sitting and pushing
She is hugged and gets squeezed
With folks elbows and knees

For health they do it all
Best liked is the small ball

Poem, Tall -- NaPoWriMo 2022 Day Eleven

     Tall Women

Tall women or girls if I slip
Frighten me in elevators
Whenever one gets in with me
Especially if just us two

Quickly then I push the button
Push the button for the next floor
Not on the run but I will scram
Tall women, if taller than me

For a reason that I don't know
Scare the bejabbers out of me

Love Poem -- NaPoWriMo 2022 Day 10

Mr. and Mrs. Jim's wedding picture (1973)
- - -
They* said to write a love poem

To my sweetest, my blossom true
wanting to write you a love poem
telling you how much I love you
fingers to keys sweet words to come

tell how you felt when first you saw her
I will try to write a love poem

When first we met my heart went wild
no tender little pitty-pat
but one long jolt you caused, my child,
a bolt from the blue hit my chest

how you knew it was her you loved
It came one day into my head

Listen to my arrow pierced heart
my life will never be the same
Dan Cupid hit me on the mark
that arrow had your name

tell now about being with her

My life is whole a life complete
I need you always by my side
dearer than chocolate you're so sweet
love you always will you're my pride

are you happy with what you wrote?

If I could only write a poem
if I had the sweet words I felt
if I could now put them to print
there would be a love poem for you

discarded thoughts that didn't fit?

Many thoughts I dropped one thing sure
I love you to Heaven above
you can do no wrong you're so pure
I can't live without you my love

We have been married 49 years.  Both photos are of Mrs. Jim and me away from home.  Top was taken by a "friendly stranger", a drunk guy on the beach at Cayman Island.  The lower we'd been walking and now were aboard the Princess Cruise ship at Aukland for a cruise around New Zealand, down to the south and over to Tasmania, ending up at Sydney, Australia.
