NaPoWriMo Day 25 - Poem for Sunday Muse

 "The Sea Within" painting by

Sea Within

What do I see in the
sea within
Little glass bowl full of toys
and one small fishie
We named her Betsy we
watch her swim
She seemed to like us
could  you love a fish

It would be so easy were
your head like a pretty little
glass bowl
I sit by hours watching
when you are asleep
I wish it were always like
that glass bowl
Fishes there to tell me from
within your pretty head

Because at times I wonder
Do you love me like I love you
There's flowers in the morning
and chocolate at noon
Both telling me that
you love me so very much

Like I love you

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 24 - a "Finds Poem"

(I love to find old Zombie Trees along the road. [jimmiehov 2018])

Zombie Finds

I woke up this morning at four
I couldn't sleep no more
My dream woke me up, end of night
My passion, had to write

It was of a grove of Zombie trees
Alive no longer be
But inside those skeletons lie
Spirits call to the sky

Listen and be very quiet
Spirits not gone just yet
Waiting praise and prayer might be long
Basque in their heav'nly song

And when accepted by above
They crumble to that love

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 23 - New Wheel, a Poem

I am writing this poem for William Shakespeare who died on this date, April 23, 1616, at his birth town, Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom (we visited his birthplace in 1980, there I bought the book, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare).

"A’ shall answer it. Some pigeons, Davy, a couple of short-legged hens, a joint of mutton, and any pretty little tiny kickshaws, tell William cook."

Henry IV Part 2: Act 5, Scene 1

The Wheel

Rediscover the wheel
Make it better this time
One on every plate and
one in every garage

Review its performance
Is it compatible
All computer platforms
Restart in one minute

Reveal it in New York
Make headlines tell it all
Advertise sell sell sell
Every office and home

Respect the laws of state
Patents and copyrights
Protect invention well
Competition be gone

Renounce all old models
Software updates won't work
on machines that aren't ours
Corner on the market

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 22 - Earth Day Poem

     Sierra Club *

Earth Day 2020

April twenty-second again
The day, Earth Day 2020
To me it is recognition
Beautiful planet where we live

We plant new trees in its honor
Fertilize and trim what we've got
Trees and flowers Nature's resource
Beautiful planet we must help

Pick up trash that others have left
Proclaim to the world our duties
Food and clothing minerals and rocks
Beautiful planet sustains us

We mustn't forget the critters
They were here way before we came
Those critters and Indian race
Beautiful planet room for all

Earth Day 2020 calls us
Protect preserve and cultivate

Appreciation planet good

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 21 - Poem, Family Tree

Family trees were lost
Casualties of the wars

Wish for older daughter
She'd marry rich and strong
Richest of Roman gods

The 12 Roman  gods were
Jupiter and Juno
Neptune and Minerva
Mars and Venus
Apollo and Diana
Vulcan and Vesta and
Mercury and Ceres.*

Some had too many wives
Females were no no's then

Jupiter son of Zeus
Best pick for this father

Lived happily after
Started new family tree

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 20 - The Walk

The Walk and Finds

We're going for more walks now
that we're staying in
Doctors' orders*

And on those neighborhood walks
we find little things
And bring them home

There's some bushes down the street
wee flowers in bloom
Pick two or three

Bring them home make a bouquet
every day to see
Smell just a whiff

Another flower to be
thistle a foot tall
Bring it home to stay
Wife says "No way"

* Upon discharge from care,  back surgery, disc repair, my doctor said, "Walk 30 minutes a day, five times a week.  On the same day Mrs. Jim's doctor called, ended with the same advice.  Different practices, different specialties.   Providence?  Scary.

NaplPoWriMo 2020 Day 19 -- Poem, A Morning at the Pier

At the Pier

Here I am sitting
Here I sit dangling my legs
On this pier my thoughts are born
My dreams are wished, feet get washed

My wishes disclosed
COVID 19, go away
For Rainbow's end Pot of Gold
Food on table and food line

And my feet get washed
The fishes swim over them
I don't need soap--wouldn't work
Big fish I'll grab with my net

And then?
Wave goodbye to fish and  ships
Dog glad to have me come home
Make us some  food fish and chips
