The Shopping Trip -- a Poem

I'm sitting here in the store just waiting
Waiting for you
Shopping you are, bras undies--I'm fainting
And slippers too

Wait by the side door in a big red chair
'Til you're finished
I'm writing a poem my rhyming is fair
Good one I wished

But should I write of the sandals I bought
You look I bought
My shopping is done I wait while you shop
Fish could of caught

But I'm not fishing good husband I am
Buy you Moon and stars put them in a can

Marian wants us to write a Cavatina form poem, with a set meter and rhyme scheme. Like this:
  •Ten-syllable non-rhyming line,
  •Alternating with a four-syllable rhyming line,
  •Repeated at least three times,
  •Ending with a ten-syllable line couplet.
It was a fun project, I really did write most of it while waiting for Mrs. Jim to finish her shopping.   I LOVE THAT GAL.

A Piggyback Poem for Thursday

"A Hurry of Hoofs;"*
  on a Mare named Knight

"Under the night sky she
mounted a mare and rode" *
The moon shone brightly
and though her hair was shining
It could not compete
with her bold steed's flaring mane
Sparking seemed to burn
Brighter than the hottest fire

Dragons and other
frothing monsters passed her by
Belching and hissing
holding tight they reached her not
Nor was she afraid
frothing wolves wild growling bears
"A hurry of hoofs" *
Speeding on, her Mare named Knight

* - For Sherry we are writing a "Piggyback Poem" which begins with a line from one poem and ends with a line from another. My first is from "The Horses, the Sorrow, the Umbilicus" by Maureen Hynes at Sherry's link above.  The last in part is a line from "Paul Revere's Ride" by Wadsworth  ( https://m.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/paul-reveres-ride ).

Getting Old, another Flash Poem

We are known as the "wilted pair."
Once shiny and so very bright
We've a stooped walk with silver cane
And sip our water with a straw

Rented teeth ours went down the drain
Children stare tell Mum we're funny
Still we smile and tell you G'day
Let's sip some water with a straw
