The Shopping Trip -- a Poem

I'm sitting here in the store just waiting
Waiting for you
Shopping you are, bras undies--I'm fainting
And slippers too

Wait by the side door in a big red chair
'Til you're finished
I'm writing a poem my rhyming is fair
Good one I wished

But should I write of the sandals I bought
You look I bought
My shopping is done I wait while you shop
Fish could of caught

But I'm not fishing good husband I am
Buy you Moon and stars put them in a can

Marian wants us to write a Cavatina form poem, with a set meter and rhyme scheme. Like this:
  •Ten-syllable non-rhyming line,
  •Alternating with a four-syllable rhyming line,
  •Repeated at least three times,
  •Ending with a ten-syllable line couplet.
It was a fun project, I really did write most of it while waiting for Mrs. Jim to finish her shopping.   I LOVE THAT GAL.

A Flash 55 poem for the weekend -- Grocery Shopping

 

Grocery shopping
Isn't favorite thing to do
Math I've learned helps me not

Took my dolly too
Stopped at the Starbucks
Will coffee stunt our growth

Green things I don't eat
Red isn't much better
Do cookies rot my teeth

I went with Mother
She'll spend one quarter for me
What makes the onion cry

I chose her first option for a Flash 55 poem.  It turned out also to have an option for it to be a Zen Poem with 55 words of which I'm not real good.  So I'm playing Kerry's prior request of Saturday, May 2, 2015.  It seems that I posted three poems for that day's call, none of which was a very good Zen poem.  The link is http://withrealtoads.blogspot.co.za/2015/05/flash-55-plus.html  I do have exactly 55 Words, with a questioning view and  a set of four Senryū verses which the Zen like.

Work for the ...

night rain is coming

My work? I was on my way to Willis (Texas) to run some needed errands. I had to mail some letters, get a couple of things at the grocery store, and pick up some books from the library--ones I had ordered to come to this library from Conroe and Tomball.






It rained at Willis, while I was shopping in the grocery store. Willis is a fifteen (15) minute drive from our house.




It had not rained yet at home. But give it about 20 minutes after I got back and we had this (rain). It amounted to just under an inch in those few minutes, Houston had a lot more, those people had some street flooding.



That was enough to make standing water on the golf course back there. It was wet enough already from the day before's rain to cause this earlier in the morning:





Surely this isn't global warming? Already?

We've had a really wet summer as have other parts of the world, while some places had record breaking heat.
