One Single Impression: Love (# 2)
Love
love makes the world go round it's said
a lot depends upon one's age
now looking on remembering
we've been there each delightful stage
two of our best just barely three
holding hands walking down the street
forbidden kiss it's puppy love
pita-pat heart's love at first beat
thrashing about hands uncontrolled
sensuous lips wander tarry
passionate teen kiss who will know
parents silent anxious caring
stars wild and crazy gone rampant
yet serious couples families start
Sunday sleep in—church—park—or play
new adults crowd of loving hearts
you make coffee I'll do the bed
read the paper and go to work
their love has now become routine
they still bite with a little smirk
I love you dear said tenderly
oft and smiling still when they greet
they've been married a hundred years
holding hands walking down the street
puppy love—mad passionate love
wild and crazy love—earnest love
routine love—old dog (mature) love
really hope it stays that way—love

I enjoyed following the stages of love and its expression in the smallest, simplest of things. To share in these ways is to know profound joy. Thanks, Jim.
I love the way you have named love at different stages of life. Enjoyed this poem. Thanks Jim.

Love the way you expressed each stage and yet in the end, is it really the same as the first. I hope not since love needs to grow and change just like life does.
so sweet .. like reading of a life time of love :)
True love lasts. I remember interviewing a couple in New Mexico a few years ago. At that time, they had been married 63 years. How did I find them? I saw them walking into the senior center hand in hand, and I was brash enough to ask them if they'd talk to me. They did. It was a great story!
