One Single Impression: Top

.

top

spinning top goes round and round
musical sound cannot identify that tune
when it will stop only do the children know
spinning spinning spinning round and round

spinning top slowing now ever going around
wobble here wobble there still playing its song
silly tune that save the children no one knows
spinning and wobbling along new crazy path

now clipping the ground yet spinning still
wobbling and singing more crazily yet
it will stop near to you or by me
last wobble stopped by a child
whoa
stopped
it
is
quiet

Wednesday Challenge -- Fancy That Kid! -- Erasure Poem

my Erasure Poem for Wednesday:
Wire to wire
.
The five-year-old was scooped up and kissed
Angel may've learned that from his dog
He loves to kiss with everybody
Overall he became a terror
.
He once was early bred and still fresh
By night he be pooped. So eat a steak
Kinky doings show up well.  Fancy that
He who loves all is seen to win none

My starting news article was found at the link below.  I have copied the text.
http://t.foxsports.msn.com/best-in-show-wire-fox-terrier-wins-top-prize-at-Westminster

Sky, a wire fox terrier, won best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show on Tuesday
NEW YORK -- From wire to wire, Sky was America's top dog.
The 5-year-old wire fox terrier won best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club on Tuesday night, finishing off a year in which she was ranked the nation's No. 1 dog.
Handler Gabriel Rangel scooped up Sky in one arm and kissed judge Betty Regina Leininger's hand after the title was awarded inside a nearly full Madison Square Garden.
Rangel may've learned that from his dog.
"Her personality is she loves to kiss people and she connects with everybody," Rangel said.
This was Sky's 129th best in show ribbon overall -- she became a Triple Crown winner in dogdom, too, having previously taken the National Dog Show and the top AKC event.
A wire fox terrier has won 14 times at the nation's top dog show. No other breed has won more than eight times.
The winner with the ginger-and-white coat and little terrier goatee beat out an impressive lineup for the final ring. Also competing were a standard poodle, a bloodhound, an Irish water spaniel, a Cardigan Welsh corgi, a miniature pinscher and a Portuguese water dog.
Matisse the Portie had a great history. He is a cousin of President Barack Obama's newest house pet -- the White House, that is.
But once again, a terrier prevailed. Terriers have taken 46 of the 105 best in show ribbons presented at an event that dates to the late 19th century.
"She has the `it' factor. She owned this night," Leininger said.
The standard poodle named Ally was chosen as the runner-up.
Nathan the bloodhound was clearly the crowd's pick as all seven dogs circled around in the final ring. The min pin called Classie had won 121 times.
Rangel, who lives with Sky in Rialto, Calif., has plenty of experience in winning. He guided Sadie the Scottish terrier to victory at Westminster four years ago.
There were 2,845 dogs entered in the 138th Westminster Kennel Club show. They were eligible in 190 breeds and varieties.
Sky entered the ring only a half-hour or so after winning the terrier group, and was still fresh.
"We're kind of saving it," Rangel said shortly before the final competition.
By Wednesday night, the pooch might be pooped. She's scheduled to tour the morning TV news shows, eat a steak lunch at famed Manhattan restaurant Sardi's and also go up the Empire State Building.
And on Thursday night, Sky was set to make her Broadway debut with a walk-on part in the Tony Award-winning musical "Kinky Boots."
Pretty lofty doings, indeed, for a dog with the champion's name of Afterall Painting The Sky and accustomed to top treats.
"It's like winning an Oscar," said Victor Malzoni Jr., one of the owners who is an economist from Brazil.
Poodles always seem to show up well at these events, and Ally represented her breed well. She takes three to four hours to prep, and came out perfectly trimmed.
Fancy that.
The Cardigan Welsh corgi called Coco might've been familiar to dog fanciers at the Garden, and to the several million who tune each year to the Westminster telecast.
Queen Elizabeth II loves all kinds of corgis, and is often seen with them in her royal reign.
The Irish water spaniel called Riley originally came from the Seattle. In this, an event known as the Super Bowl of dogs, she was trying to repeat the win that the Seahawks posted in the real Super Bowl this month right across the Hudson River.

Weekly Scribblings - at the top

    The Top

The couple decided to take the old
The old Ferris wheel relegated far
Far out at the edge of the county fair
Not a crowd out there perfect for cuddling

Hope on hope, ride would break with them on top.
They'd have some time for each other.  A kiss?
Stop it did, while loving mischief they did
The ride operator tried, make it go

Finally help came, two able mechanics
They tinkered with the old Allis Chalmers
Try as they may the 1923
engine would not start.  Not even a belch

With a hand crank Ferris began to move
Every other seat they would let folks out
Cranking some more  they let "youth" pass on by
Wouldn't you know, the couple enjoyed more

...

A modern Ferris wheel was at our county fair Texas rodeo, the County Fair at Brenham, Texas, on September 17, 2010 .  It was the first one we had seen in a long time, this time we went on request.  We had a guest from France, friend of our son, who had wanted to see a bull riding contest.  She was not disappointed.

We have ridden on this old 1923 Ferris wheel, it belonged to a fellow in our car club.  And yes, one time it stopped working while we were on top.  It took quite a while to get us off, I'm not real sure how we passed our time up there.

Around and Around - a write for Friday Writings

 - Rommy has invited us to use ‘pivot’ (or any variation of the word) in our poetry or prose.  Pivot:  NOUN -- the central point, pin, or shaft on which a mechanism turns or oscillates.  central shaft fulcrumaxis axleswivelpinhub
To see, read, other "spinning" writes I have posted go to the link below:

Ceiling Pivot; Palace Prison

    Perched way up high
It's hot up here
    Ceiling fan my perch
Can't scratch my nose
    Sleeping most times
Sans sleeping pills
    Hide from the light
My eyes are trained
    Turned on at dusk
Spot intruders
    'til comes midnight
They'd best not stay

    When nights are hot
Might sweat a lot
    Ceiling fan goes on
Blades pivoting
    Cools the air
I hang on tight
    Turns round and round
Blades turning fast
    Hanging on tight
Don't dare get down
    Don't want to fall
No one to catch
    Spin 'round the light
Until it stops

Note:  This is a four-verse, four-syllable-per-line write.  You can read four ways, down each column separately as single writes, down one way followed by down the second, or across the page, not minding the gap.

[large picture] [super sized]
Here we have a view of a ceiling in a bedroom.
This was while we toured the Royal Yacht Britannia during our visit to Edinburgh, Scotland.

While there we found this pretty stuffed bear riding on top of a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. We have no explanation for why it was there.
Outside there were a few clouds, see the pictures at the bottom.  Our daughter below, KP, was with us for this overseas visit.

I have previously posted the items below the Note and the Ceiling Fan above on Friday 17, 2008, when I participated in the Sky Watch activity.  That group is still going except I would get sooo many comments that I could not afford the time taken to answer on the other's posts.

One Single Impression: Circles

.

Circles;
ode to my top
and others

You turn around from
side to side and back and forth
You run in circles
You never get to the end
You can't even find your start

Spinning around with
wobbly axles of your turn
spinning crazily
high and low, always listing,
on the ground, up to the sky

Round and round you go
in and out you never stop
We feel for you top
This whirling's making you dizzy
Please stop your twirls just this once

One Single Impression: What's It Like?

What's It Like?

to be on top wound up too tight
then flying loose no holding hand
crashing the walls rolling on edge
spinning too fast circling wobbling

jump off that top while you still can
your bones will break your mind will bend
what a dead end--free at the game
kids abusing--doll head bobbling

Dolls and Toys -- NaPoWriM 2022 Day Fifteen

    Be My Paper Doll

Boys have toys
That's well known
And when they grow older
some they still own
I don't mean their Porsches
and electronics

Ones they might keep for play
like down on the floor or
up on a table top
While others are keepsakes
of which they never play

So now I'll tell of mine
Some I still have some are
out in a grove
Like my steel wheelbarrow wheel,
or rusting behind a barn
Others were only in my mind
though I never owned
That would be the electric train
I found every Christmas time
It stays in the store or Sears catalog
or on my cousin's shelf

Teddy bears and trucks and cars
Most every marble I've ever
had resting in an old crank churn
The tin monkey that knows
his multiplication table through twelve

Six Match Box cars on my dresser
lined up ready to race and
my gyroscope in its box
A wooden box with my wood box and
My Shirley Temple scrape book
that Mom and I filled
An old cast iron taxi my sister
bought sort of like the one
I had when small
There's my Dick Tracy camera
I'd ordered from Chicago

And a few others I haven't told

There's one I played with
but never owned
And NEVER WILL
That's the paper dolls
Ones like I played with
while visiting my cousins

I would cut out clothes for the dolls to wear
When we ran out then we'd find some more in the Sears and Wards catalogs
Doing all that was fun

But now I've no desire for them
No desire to even play
let alone own
There is an exception
But still, I would be FAKING IT
That's if a GRANDAUGHTER
wanted me to play
Paper Dolls

Oh yes, I forgot to tell of,
my trusty Red Ryder BB Gun,
it still shoots
And my Snow Sled
hanging on a garage wall,
we have no snow in our
Gulf Coast part of Texas

Blue and Bright - a Write for Sunday Muse

"Frozen" by Riamali

    Blue Eyes

Blue eyes and blonde
that's what I used to be
Envy of all
'swat they wanted to be
Envious girls

Crooned at my feet
wanting to be like me
Couldn't happen
no way they'd be like me
I's born like this

I am a boy
could it be I'm a freak
Other boys tease
teasing they make me blush
Bright apple red

Sat by the curb
others admired my looks
Muscles I have
Fast and proud born this way
I purr for them

And when they swoon
there is no way I'll cry
I am so proud
top down they make me roar
I'm a Mustang

I've had this car since I retired in 2001.  It is my retirement present
from me to myself.  A 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible,

Recipe for Planning a Travel Holiday - a Tasty Write for Friday Writings

        A Travel Holiday, i.e. Vacation

The rich combination of chocolate and almond plus
having it in a wrapped bar makes any travel finer.
I have traveled to all 50 of the United States and
have visited 82 or more countries I'm showing here
The hope here for you is that you enjoy the travel
as much or more than I have.
                                _ _ _ _

Back to our recipe, before we even start making
our delightful trip full of relaxation, learning, and
enjoyment there are a few items to get straight.

Decisions:
A Destination -- do your homework here use
google to help you, and for other items
Mode(s) of travel -- this in part will depend on
where you are going, your physical condition,
and the amount of money in your purse/wallet
A Budget for expected costs -- google helps you
Who all is going -- a travel alone for a single is
more costly, although not exactly "two can go
        for the price of one"
Time -- How much time can you take? (I had
six weeks each summer and I taught six weeks
        for spare money to use)
Miscellaneous -- you may come up with other
decisions you need to make, these above all work
        together
                                _ _ _ _

Ingredients for the plan:
3 pounds of dollar bills (more if you have or need)
2 tablespoons of cooperation with spouses, etc
1 can of dark, sweet and pitted time
1/2 tablespoon of salt and perspiration
2 cups of sleep every night
    1 blank notebook
3 days of inspecting, lubricating, and repairs if driving
An ample amount of spare time

To Start
In a chilled bowl  in room temperature mix dollar                         bills, the cooperation, and 1/3 cup of time and beat
until tempers are very stiff.  Refrigerate as needed
    to cool off

Begin using the notebook so as not make the same
mistakes twice.  Take note of tricks you use to keep
the other's cool as and if this applies to your help

To assemble your trip plans, add the other ingredients
and hope for the best.  Pour them out onto a greased
and slightly rusted pan and bake regularly until it is
    departure time.

Bon Voyage and Good Luck, Enjoy!!
