a Mother's Garden poem for Friday

To Mom's garden;
  radishes red

Mothers garden, planted in spring
Radishes after the last thaw
Devil bright red and white ones too
Long rows thick brilliant leaves of green
Eat reds right there with dash of salt
Whites for in the house, dinner treat

Mother's garden, pride of prairie
Sweet green peas and carrots came next
Orange and strait no other be
More on the spot snacks tummy fill
Pea shelling time, fun for the kids
Canned peas and carrots cellar bound

Mother's garden, one full acre
Tomato plants, string beans to plant
Homemade catsup back porch bottled
Beets for pickling last all year long
Sweet corn, pop corn, she grew them both
Fill the cellar before the frost

Mother's garden, what could be left
Strawberries return in the spring
Rows and rows, potatoes to dig
Squash and cucumbers long and green
Pumpkins, watermelons, fall's treat
Cantaloupe too, all ground cover

Mother's garden, prairie reclaimed
Faithful favorites return each spring
Day lilies, snap dragons, flowers
bright. Once gift of seed companies
Rhubarb, asparagus, onions
Can't stand to leave, faithful friends wait

But mother's garden is no more
Volunteers and the wild remain
Rustlers come, there's  plenty for all
Some pause, reminisce days of old
Hoeing weeds, picking vegetables

Mother's garden gone, Mother too

"than bauk" form -- Fussy Little Forms

The Proposal;
love wins out

I think I feel
Warm heart real hot
I realized
Then surmised you
and skies'd confirm
A long-term match

My sperm, we'll hatch?*

Thank you, Marian, for introducing this form.  Read more about it here:
http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2017/12/fussy-little-forms-than-bauk.html

In case you don't, here is an intro to the "than bauk" form:

The than bauk form is a three-line poem with four syllables each, featuring rhymes in kind of a step pattern like this:

        x x x R        x x R x
        x R x x
One could chain together several to make a longer poem, like this:
            x x x A
            x x A x
            x A x B
            x x B x
            x B x C
            x x C x
            x C x x
*Note:
Translation:  "I love you very much, let us marry and you will have my babies?"
(or something like that, I'm not so good with words like this)

Thursday Challenge Poem, a "Predicament"

A Monumental Predicament;
 seeing reality through distorted lens

"Is it permitted," she asked,
"Five second rule I dare ask
May I blow dust off my crisp
Before it goes in my mouth

Or should I open a new
Feed this crisp to my feline
She'd have a tad to much salt
Dust.  Another hair ball start

I will not sleep tonight, not
until I know the answer
Monumental problem brews
What O what now shall I do

We will ask the cat, she knows
She eats off the floor, sometimes
I watch her, no worries there
O dear, O dear, I will cry."

Tenderness -- a Poem for Sunday

Tenderness
Definition: (Google search "Tenderness")
noun: tenderness; plural noun: tendernesses

1a. gentleness and kindness.
"he picked her up in his arms with great tenderness"
synonyms: kindness, kindliness, kindheartedness, tenderheartedness, compassion, care, concern, sympathy, humanity, warmth, fatherliness, motherliness, gentleness, benevolence, generosity
"with unexpected tenderness, he told her what had happened"

1b. feelings of deep affection; devotion.
"tenderness for the opposite sex"
synonyms: affection, fondness, love, devotion, loving kindness, emotion, sentiment
"I felt an enormous tenderness for her"

2. sensitivity to pain.
"abdominal tenderness"
synonyms: soreness, pain, inflammation, irritation, bruising; More

Tenderness - Do you know anyone in politics who fits the definition?  Hard to think of one, I know.  In fact I believe politicians cause inflammation, especially if they win and are in office, with lots of power.

Well, lets approach it from another angle - do you know anyone in our government who fits that definition?  You should find a few here.

I'll try to help, what is the mission of the FEMA -- U.S. government agency designed to help folk recover from disaster.  FEMA is to manage our emergencies so the name says.

But then I knew a very kind young lady who graduated from college and was employed by FEMA, she was the kindest.  I cannot imagine her ever grouching at a client.

Child Welfare -- Help and rescue the children from various harms, in and out of the family situation.

Child Abuse is the most dastardly crime I can ever think of, poor defenseless children don't have a chance.  I didn't and still cannot forgive the abuser, even though he is long deceased.  If I forgot perhaps I would forgive.  One never forgets abuse.

I am quoting from an unnamed source, written from a lady who really meant it, it was listed in her list of desires:
"I desire a kinder, more peaceful world, less divided by things like politics and religion.  I wish we didn't have either one of those things in this world - they are both the root of much suffering and I believe we'd be better off without them, and with more acceptance and tolerance and love."

I'm all for the riddance of politics but I believe that God is the author of "Love".  I'll stop there for this post, just as she stopped with the word, "love".

With these lines I'll stop
Do I rant?  Well I should, loud
Get on my high horse

About Monsters - a Poem

Monster Under My Bed

There's a monster under my bed
That's his home but I never see
He haunts me day and night.  I fear
What will he do, devours the best

Monster 'neath my bed has no name
Had he one, it I wouldn't say
Been said he eats small girls alive
Keep quiet, eyes closed, try to sleep

There's a monster under my bed
He drives me insane, thoughts of him
How do I know he's really there
My brother told me long ago

There's a monster down there I know
Every night, way to end my day
Mother said my monsters aren't real
Perhaps they aren't but still I look

Saturday Challenge Poem

Close the door;
you're letting the air conditioning out

Close the door, you're letting the air conditioning out
I need someone to talk to. With if you see fit so to do

I worry about things that I can't change
Maybe this happens with you as well.  Well?

Not like the price of crude oil from Russia
But more like escalation all around

Or the climate changing  melt the icebergs
Forest fires, drought, flooding right and left

I could go on but what is to be gained
Time will tell and I won't be here to know

It's cooled in here again, thanks for coming
Should I worry, what say you about this?
