French scenes ~~ a Poem for "Artistic Interpretation "

Artistic Interpretation

Blue Ridge Mountains reminds one of
Best of master's--elements there

Mountains in the background, looming
Mont Sainte Victoire, Provence love

Trees in the foreground standing guard
European Cypress trees, tall

What artists come to mind for you
A small hint, two loved abstraction

Renowned American artist
And the other was very French

This is the very French:

If you like art then go to Europe. We found this Cézanne original in the Lautrec Museum in Albi, France. It is by Paul Cézanne (1839 to 1906) and yes, he was pretty quirky. (Cézanne Wikipedia link)

A Poem, another Artistic Interpretation

Dawn shyly made her visit;
   bad scene in her realm

When dawn shyly made her visit
My senses slowly sharpening
Sloppy Sunday morning greetings
Stinking smells, silent in the dim
Summer sun should be bright but not
Simmering fog boiling at top
Wet mist seeping drops from below.

Miserable.  Clearly I was lost
I'd swam all night trying to hide
What comes now?  Safe from the poachers
Though morning brings another fear
Strangers lurking here mean no harm
Strange to them never seen a whale
Last night was going south not north

Safe harbor?  San Diego looms
The Zoo or the Bay, not my choice

A Love Poem, of Sorts

My Lily Pad Queen

She sat on the leaf, my Lily Pad Queen
It was one of two leaves in the pond
Hers always, when wearing Irish Green
Other remained back saved for her friend

Waiting for me, her Lily Pad Prince
She knows me not though I know her well
Holding tight to her perch afraid to dance
Looking around would I ring her bell

Green eyes passed me over, then they teared
Deep I dived, I'll stay a hundred years
..

NaplPoWriMo 2020 Day 19 -- Poem, A Morning at the Pier

At the Pier

Here I am sitting
Here I sit dangling my legs
On this pier my thoughts are born
My dreams are wished, feet get washed

My wishes disclosed
COVID 19, go away
For Rainbow's end Pot of Gold
Food on table and food line

And my feet get washed
The fishes swim over them
I don't need soap--wouldn't work
Big fish I'll grab with my net

And then?
Wave goodbye to fish and  ships
Dog glad to have me come home
Make us some  food fish and chips

An Artistic Interpretation 'writing'

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
[click picture for larger view]
[I'm riding at "Blogstock '08"]

What manner white horse

White horse with a horn
That'd be a unicorn
Someone's fantasy
Look again how does he stand
On a pole--toy store stick horse

Notes:
1. Margaret has introduced us to Carol Law Conklin, Batik Artist. One of her prints is called "The Last Unicorn."  We have permission to copy and post some of her works. Tomorrow I will post that one here. In the meantime you can see it and Ms. Conklin's other works at the link above.
2. I had planned to write differently, of a youngster finding a real Unicorn even though they have gone into extinction years and years ago. But my time for writing has been taken from me, hence this quickly keyed Tanka above.
3.  Time has become very precious again, I may not get all of your comments return. I am sorry for that. I do try to read your writings though.

Artistic Challenge Poem, Ruby

Ruby was, Ruby is

Ruby is my stone, Ruby was my love
I didn't pick her, Ruby picked moi
Ruby was keen on me when I was young
Not old in years, but older than her years

We'd known each other, it seemed a long while
Then that night, one that boys do remember
Ruby's gone away, no way I'll find her
Though Ruby picked me, I didn't pick her

She left a rock, rock no one else can have
Placed near my heart I keep it there for her

NaPoWriMo 2017, Day 24, a Peacock Poem

Pretty Birds; You woke me

You woke me up again today
Beautiful, many colored coats
But oh what a screech you do make
When you're below my window sill

Pretty boy and girl, travel in pairs
Walking down the street to my house
Early morning, day is dawning
Came to my house ready to yell

"Pretty bird," as Polly would say
But you flew the coop late last night
Reveled the night away and now
Now at my house waking  the dead

I'll call your mother, she will fetch
Send you home for your daily groom
Now pretty bird, please for next time
Please don't come so doggone early

  - also to Day Twenty-four of NaPoWriMohttp://www.napowrimo.net/day-twenty-four-3/

  The instructions from Margaret:
  • "For today's challenge, write about "beauty" or the symbolism that represents one of the most beautiful birds of creation, the Peacock - keeping in mind not all the myths, superstitions, folktales, and beliefs are necessarily "beautiful"."
  • Margaret has in her post, linked above, references to others who wrote of the beauty of the Peacock.  You might wish to check some of those out if you have time, also listen to video she found.  My favorite is found by clicking on the word 'HERE' in her line, "HERE is a fascinating link -  A few excerpts from the link are:"  It will take you to Minnie Mathews' research post, The Peacock in Myth, Legend, and 19th Century History.  Or you can graze the few excerpts she has posted.
  • My poem is relived from true experiences back in the 80's and 90's when we lived in Friendswood, Texas.  A neighbor down the street kept a coop having a pair of peacocks.  Their stay was almost part time as they could escape the coop, or they would get loose and be forgotten to be locked up for the night.  Invariably they would then sleep on top of their house and/or go wandering through the neighborhood, seemingly seeking us out for waking up to feed them.  Their call was the most awful screech you could imagine.

I play my Tau -- "poem" and "play" of sorts

The Taus

My instrument for the day will be, ...
It will be the Taus, my instrument

I can't play it, never even saw
But Google knows, knows full well what be

So from Google's mouth I can play
I play my YouTube loud as I can

Played for Mrs. Jim, my Taus YouTube
Right on she said, Indian music

So I'll play for you, my Taus YouTube
See what you think.  Indian music?

If you think it looks like a peacock
Well the experts think so too, they do

I'm linked above with Margaret in the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, Artistic Interpretations with Margaret - The Met's Musical Instruments Exhibit

Margaret had recently visited the Metropolitan Museum in NYC.  There she visited the Musical Instruments Exhibit and has on her post quite a few of the musical instrument she saw there.  I picked her Taus, a main instrument played to get the correct sound of Indian music.

The two YouTube presentations below will make you think you have your radio tuned to a station located in India.  Please have a listen.  The Taus comes in at 1:52 on the second video if you want to hear and see it played with a bow.  The first also sound Indian but the strings are plucked rather than played with the bow.
Well, I had the 'plucked' one on my iPad but can't find it here.  "trust me."

There Margaret also challenged poetry writers thusly:

"For this challenge, please use these images for inspiration to promote Toril's desire to begin a conversation about the beauty and interconnectedness all living creatures share with our amazing Mother Earth."

A Flash Poem for Catching up ("Play it Again")

Little bird on the fence
Of what do I owe thee
Be it some crumbs today
Or a meal of fine seeds

Oh beautiful creature
Blackbird lady supreme
How is your family
Do babies want some worms

You say, want none of that
Then I'll clean the bird bath
Smart bird flies off the fence

A Poem for Artistic Interpretations

At the Seashore
by S. Anderson

Pretty Pebbles

Pretty stones near the river's edge
lying where put by the currents
There's purple reds and pearly greens
Azure blue one tortoise shell white
Small heart shaped snitch it for the sweet

When they're wet they're glistening pearls
though when they're dry they're sandpaper
Giant green stone like jade it looks
Gem for sure polish it at home
Will they come looking, foreign jail
