One Single Impression: Seeking

I'm seeking some sunlight
I'm imprisoned again
still my sentence is light
and I'm here with my friends

My workload is not light
the food is awfully bad
there's no relief in sight
I think that I've been had

On trip to the prison
visited B-I-L
had Thanksgiving vision
rainy weather from Hell

we stopped at the Biltmore
no rooms for the wicked
Day's Inn will be once more
Charlotte traffic ticket

I could work off my fine
doing my job here on
Samaritan Purse time
wearing my wife's apron
. .

NO PEACE FOR ME IN JAIL. YES, ONCE AGAIN I AM HEADING OFF TO JAIL (picture at right courtesy of Wikipedia).
1. B-I-L is an acronym for Brother-in-Law
2. Biltmore is an old hotel near Asheville, N.C, USA
3. Samaritan Purse administers the ministry of Operation Christmas Child, an international relief organization headed up by Franklin Graham (link). I will be working on filled shoe boxes making sure that each one I inspect meets the organization's required standards of safety, content and theme, A SHOE BOX FULL OF HOPE FOR A CHILD.
4. We will not stay at the Day's Inn, I did not get a ticket, the work will be fun, and I won't be wearing Mrs. Jim's apron.
5. We will have Thanksgiving dinner with my BIL in Tennessee and we will visit the Biltmore.

One Single Impression: Birdie

Two-ish little child
Watch the birdie she was told
What to do was missed

Dad to the rescue
Used kids' vocabulary
Say cheese did the trick

Sort of: a PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 3

Sort of
Sort of a slow day, he could tell
he stayed in bed till almost nine
coffee in the pot getting stale
was still hot he teased his senses

Awake enough to eat a bite
what would it be? a hard boiled egg
couple pieces leftover ham
and half a slice of toast with jam

Glass of juice completed his meal
sort of

The above is a better...........
breakfast that he could
.........make on a better day...........

I wrote this for a 2011 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 3 prompt, to write a poem beginning “sort of”. But the site below did not like my cookies so I did not register my poem with them. Their loss, perhaps.

On July 18, 2017, I linked this ditty in recognition their sixth year anniversary to "The Imaginary Garden with Real Toads",
