The Laugh -- a Poem for Friday Writings

[click on the pictures for larger view]

  A Laughing Matter?

Little girl growing big
Taller than her grandma
Maturing, ladylike
At our house yesterday

Called, we at doctor place
"Mimi, like to spend day
Pick me up from my place?"
So pick her up we did

Small talk while driving home
At her request, one stop
McDonald's, she went in
Back out with sack and glass

We took care of some needs
Sack on coffee table
She's on the floor beside
Playing game on her phone

We'd eaten on the way
Ice cream now for dessert
Our guest, milk chocolate
Be her favorite, ever

Game time, old hide and seek?
Kid stuff, not for freshman
High school now, play new game
"My creation," she beamed

Three people.  Six stuffed toys
One is "it". Two go out
"It" hides the six stuffed toys
"It" then calls in the two

Leaves while two find the toys
Find before "It" comes back
If not, must sneak around
First one caught is new "It"

Toys brought in next game begins
Once Mimi couldn't find
Red Tomato she'd hid
Worse we couldn't either

Game was over, all laughed
Laughed and laughed O so hard
Mimi, how'd you forget?
We needed a hard laugh

Toy selection was made by our Teen: (top to bottom)
Two snowmen, on the left when she was four,
the right for the Christmas tree, occasion not remembered
Two tomatoes belonged to my mother before marriage also
Two baby lions, on the left a gift to Mrs. from me
the right "just came mainly unnoticed"

Said, Done, Butchered ~~ a Poem for Friday Writings

 .

Errant Cow

                      Well I've said it now
                      Laid food for the cow
                      Said what I know how

                      But it isn't done
                      Yes I've had my fun
                      Still cow needs a pun

                      A tasty wry curd
                      You can say the word
                      Make queen of the herd

                      Not good telling puns
(The finishing touch)                                   Butchered every one

Weather's Future Guessing - a Ditty Trial Poem for dVerse Heroic Form

            Thoughts; Climate Theories

    Weather science and climate change
    Do these two behemoths conflict
Science has the proof to offer claim
    Climate theory yet hasn't clicked

States have passed laws which forbid
    acknowledging climate change
    Calling "useless" theoretics
    Imagining of the strange

    Look at the thermometer
Check the rainfall and the floods
    Winter snows call St. Peter
Droughts and dust storms, eating bugs

    Hotter and colder, stronger each
    Temperature changes may hurry
Or perhaps they will never be
I'm no expert I just worry

Me, put my head neath a pillow
Way too much for me to swallow

Walker, Take Care -- a Poem for Sundy Muse -- and a Goodbye Note

                Tight Rope Walker

            Mr. Tight Rope Walker, hear
            Beware the lying big hawk
He's a liar through and through

            He'll lead you to destruction
            A terrible fall he wants
Wants you to crash, you could die

He holds the end of your rope
            Clutching with his tiny claws
Getting tired he leads you on

            Remember what you have learned
Keep your fate in your own hands
            That's our trade's unwritten rule

You did well in rope walking
            Class of Flying Trapeze School

 - The bottom photo was taken at one of my visits to the Regents Park in London.  We went often when our daughter took her family and went there for her work.  She stayed five years, her company paid flat was within walking distance of this park and Beatle territory, Paul McCartney lived one block from her flat in his own house.
- We all like Carri and thank her for her serving her for such a long time.  However, Carrie has decided to shut down the Sunday Muse after next week, making 260 weeks this blog has run.  I probably will not write anymore Sunday poems after next week.
My two other weekend blogs are a meme type post on "Jim's Little Blog" click here, and on this blog for "Friday Writings" which is for poetry and prose type writings.  Sometimes I write casually, during the week with free or prompted poems for "dVerse", https://dversepoets.com/ .  They will appear on this blog as I write.
At Christmas time I plan to keep up my "jim's little Christmas tree farm" posts, starting a few weeks before Christmas.  I also have there recipes and other stuff now and then.  Then too, this will possibly free me up for more often posting a Q&A blog, "Ask Dr. Jim (blog)
