A Poem for the Tuesday Platform

Why do I travel;
for delight it brings?

Started with a bucket list
Moscow, Panama Canal
Great Wall of China as well

Those in mind, first came my son
To his wedding, Barbados
With blushing bride made their vows

While in the Caribbean
Why not visit Martinique
And St. Lucia, islands near

Learned of Napoleon's wife
Awed by their island homesite
Josephine's Statue, headless

Ate bananas in their fields
from their trees and sampled rum
from the barrel.  Shoulders rubbed

Soon cruised Panama Canal
Then sailed from Moscow on to
St. Petersburg. Walked the Wall

Our bucket list long empty
With the highway in our veins
Now eighteen years we've traveled

Fifty states, most of Europe,
South America have been
India to Capetown next

Why do I travel
Because it's there

 - I hate that this turned out sounding like a bragging write. More detail would have been more boring  But it has been much of my eighteen retired years and many summer while teaching has been on the road, sea, and air.
 - Best liked was driving literally all over Europe but there isn't one holiday travel that I have regretted. Eight have been Missionary oriented.
 - Oh yes,  Mrs. Jim has been with me everywhere except for my business
monthlong romp in San Francisco and one trip to Guatemala.  Two of our children and three grandkids have also tagged along.

She delights, inspires, and amazes me -- The Edge Challenge

What would a guy always like?
Some surely would say his bike
Me? "Perhaps a motor bike"

Some things fit most any boy
Every boy has special toy
Me?  "Cast iron Ford is my toy"

Better than a toy?  "Yes sir"
"My wife is my special girl"

Ella requested that we "pen a poem about what you will never outgrow - what will delight, inspire, and  amaze you."
(Above the Los Ramblas, Mrs. Jim was studying up on places to go and see while we were in Barcelona.   Southern France would be next.)

Be Happy -- MidWeek Blues -- Windows scenes along Barcelona streets

Please scroll down one post for my Sunday poem
One Single Impression: Fog

[large picture] [super size it]

Some of these are blue, I used that for criteria unless I really liked the picture and thought you might like it also, and not blue.

Our son, Tim, was with us. Can you spot him?
He is sitting in the chair at the outdoor restaurant.

Click on any picture for large size.

And now for some street scenes.

And back to our hotel.
We were staying at the Hotel Continental (right) (link)
but would visit it's sister, the Palace Hotel on the left.

If you want to post a MidWeek Blues picture, go get directions from Rebecca by clicking on the logo here. She has a Mr. Linky and good directions . Just do what I did.
.
Or do less. All she requires is a BLUE PICTURE, you don't have to write.
