The Little House -- a Poem for Friday Writings and dVerse Poetics

photo digital artist Erik Johansson - Surrealism

            Once upon

        Once upon a time
there was a man and woman
who lived in a little inside out
        house Nothing remained hidden
from them though all was devoid

for the rest of the world Just like
it wasn't there at all  When the
woman came to feed the chickens
        inside she was dismayed  The
door was ajar off its upper hinge

The lights were on and the chickens
        were gone  Four books science
        and poetry subjects were stolen
and another lay on the ground
pages all scattered around  A total

mess inside seems they'd tried to
make it a home  They couldn't no
one except inside out people could
So they had left no thanks to anyone
The woman left in a hurry  There were

no chickens to feed  She was to tell
the man  He was violently mad  Made
his exit not waiting for the woman  She
would follow in a moment   Had to fix
her makeup first  It too was inside out

Chocolate flavored  But when they got
to the house  Bad bad  It had been
        burned to the ground

Spells and spellng - a Write for dVerse Quadrille

Spell of good fortune
Cast upon my dame
Lasted a long spell
When it was over
Riches and good looks

Upon her fell spell
others she loved
Our loving spell doomed

Onery spell moral is
'Riches, good looks
Those two spell trouble'
""T"  "R"  . . . "

 - I'm linked with Sanaa at dVerse for this Quidrille #154, Casting a Poetic Spell at
 - Our "Quadrilles" have exactly forty-four words, and are considered "Flash Writing" due to their shortness.
 - For us we are given ONE WORD which we must use, today Sanaa has given us "Spell".  This word has three meanings, making it a "homogram" with three homographs.
 - My writing is also a Flash Poem in many circles based on syllable count, I have 56 syllables, twenty-five in each line of the first five, then fourteen in the second and seventeen in the last.   Most times I like either 55 or 144 as those two are magic for either syllables or words, as is 44.

The Ride -- Life Goes On -- a Poem for Sunday Muse

                “The Ghost Train,” 1953

  The Ride; something special?

Ride of my life I'm looking for
Too old for ponies I was told
Truth comes hard not child any more

Life change, adolescents we were
Corny jokes tickles and pinches
Crushes, fickle loves and breakups

Come scarey tunnel of darkness
Moments getting more serious
Teens we learned every part of love

High school finished my grades were good
Way too young still, took our chances
Steamed romances settled on one

Will marriage be the ride for me
Cross my fingers hope for good choice

Sunday Muse - How Old?

A morning her kind

Thin, old and weary
She still has a life

Sets her alarm with snooze
Goes to sleep at midnight

Awake at four has to pee
Four-thirty gets out of bed

Husband is snoring in her head
Poor fellow fifteen years been gone

Hot chocolate with marshmallows
Brownie with chocolate chips, sits

Puts up her feet, she sips
Unbraids her hair bun, slow

Tired last night, so now
Crooked fingers' work

It's hell getting old

NaPoWriMo 2021 Day 17 -- Moon Howling

Come Howl with Me

The Moon is full tonight

Watch it in the east as

it rises big and bright

Over the horizon

Just as twilight begins

Howling time begins when

Comes the hour of Midnight

The foxes and the wolves

Give us a sendoff clue

When it's just right for you

Auool, auool, auool, auool

My howling will never cease

Howling until wolves do stop

Followed by the foxes,

Coyotes and dogs everywhere

Do I grow fangs at midnight

On their necks women to bite

NaPoWriMo 2018-15 -- Day 15, a Poem, feed your dog

My day is done;
if you love a dog then feed it

My day is finished my work is done
I will rest my bod I'm going home

You can't leave work remains to be done
Flowers to pick and some seeds to sow
Potatoes to plant and weeds to hoe

I'll leave the garden for someone else
Here's my truck the kids can load it up

Heavy groceries for the many mouths
You do that so well the neighbors wait
Food from the food bank don't let it waste

I've done that for years it's your turn now
I'm tired so weary home I must go

Lost; a poem of no recovery

Lost;
running away,
never to be found

I'm lost and
can't find my way
Really don't want
to anyway

They sent out
the search party
When I saw them come
I hid

No recovery
for me right now
Perhaps never
will be

Left alone
I want to be
Don't you come looking
for me

Do you have thoughts to share, ideas you wish to release into the wild or a world view to express? You have come to the right place.

 - I took my picture of the Vespa scooter plaque in the "W o r l d . M a r k e t" store in Katy, Texas.  In one of my other lives I had a Vespa motorscooter  for a while.  It sufficed for second car use.
 - I also used the scooter to get away on long jaunts, mostly riding up to our mountain or downing down along the Rio Grande River, either side.  In New Hampshire the scooter had prettier scenery for exploring.
 - My Vespa ended life there in New Hampshire.  In another life I had a much larger Honda motor cycle.  That too has ended although I now have an older 1998 Ford Mustang Convertible, a what I call "an old man's motorcycle."
 - Most any place I have liked my solitude now and then but always I have come back.
 - More birthdays than not I have mentioned running away but when I go Mrs. Jim has gone with me.

Missed the Mail;
a her and him piece

Post carrier has come and gone
Just a little bit late today
I missed it big, nothing for you
May I e-mail my note of love

I will still love you when you're late
There's nothing witty I can say
Pining away, I miss you so
This is my e-mailed note with love

Note:  I'm not late a lot, at least for the important things.  Most of them.  I'm most infamous for being an hour late for Mrs. Jim's and my wedding.  That was unfortunate and not very much my fault.  It happened over forty years ago so I think the marriage took. (Read more about all that here)

Little Lies -- Monday Toads -- Two Shoes Tuesday

.
Little White Lies

It's a little fib I tell
sure it won't send me to Hell

Santa comes in the middle
of the night--to bed, be quick

It won't hurt, nurse's needle
not even a little bit

I am fit as a fiddle
everyone falls--I'm not sick

Hello Satan sir. Yes sir,
there will be no lying here

One Single Impression: Calmed

.
Ceansū Tráchta;
(Irish) Traffic Calming

An ordinary Sunday afternoon
little family out for their weekly ride
Grandpa riding shotgun with his spittoon
Dad had the reigns proudly he steered the drive

In the back kids and Mom with windows down
dodging juice from their Grandad's outside spit
wise Mom packed a kerchief to wipe her brow
and gives aid to Dad from back where she sits

Passed by red car its driver half Dad's age
He raised Dad's ire a lesson boy must learn
don't mess with folks take care you'll cause a crash
Dad had the whip young fellow you must burn

He'd cut him off now Dad started around
he'll teach young lad that his driving is bad
wise Mom sitting in back now held her ground
stop it all there's no lesson to be had

Dad knew his was folly and Mom was right
youngster avoid there's safety holding back
Mom's are wise they calm our souls quell the fight
the lesson here family comes first says Dad
