NaPoWriMo 2021 Day 17 -- Moon Howling

Come Howl with Me

The Moon is full tonight

Watch it in the east as

it rises big and bright

Over the horizon

Just as twilight begins

Howling time begins when

Comes the hour of Midnight

The foxes and the wolves

Give us a sendoff clue

When it's just right for you

Auool, auool, auool, auool

My howling will never cease

Howling until wolves do stop

Followed by the foxes,

Coyotes and dogs everywhere

Do I grow fangs at midnight

On their necks women to bite

Accept the moon. The moon just wants what’s best for you and your poems. So yes – write a poem that is about, or that involves, the moon.

 - The Lone Wolf has been in our family, since when I don't know, before I was born.  My sister, Lois (read of her), was always afraid of that wolf.  I have it now and just finished taking it's picture for you.

 - My first Moon Howling blog post and with the above photo I wrote in , Tuscany, Italy, back in 2006.    https://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/2006/10/its-fair-to-howl-tonight-howl-with-me.html?m=1 and more of Tuscany https://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/search?q=tuscany

We had a five week holiday in Southern Europe.  Two weeks in Sicily, one week at the Amalfi coast and surrounding including Naples, another week in Province, France, and our last week in Tuscany.

The Sicily and Amalfi visit was with a tour company, the last two weeks we had a rental car from Milan and back to fly home.

Loved this, Jim. I must say, you're the nicest werewolf I ever met (but then, I don't meet many – so far as I know).

Howling is good for us and the best place to do it is beside the sea, into the wind and waves. The first stanza sets the scene well, Jim, and I like the unison of fox and wolf in the ‘sendoff clue’.

I think the wolves howling is signal to its companions that he is up to something just in case he needs their help. Whereas the probable victims must make up their minds to run or take their chance.

Whoawwww! I howl with you, and hope my voice gets some culture out of the charm your poem exudes. I love it!

I am looking forward to the next Super Moon, happening soon! Love the wolf sound you made ...... left the whistle behind.

There really isn't anything like hearing a howl in the dark of night... I believe ours are coyotes... Nice to read you and I think I'm back after my surgery ... finally :)

How interesting, to hear the point of view of the werewolf... as it wonders where to sink its fangs.
