| *[Van Gogh painting, it's photo I've taken of it illustrating in the Olive Garden] |
Woke up one stary night
Sweating on my pillow
Had been dreaming of France,
my stay in St. Remy
Been like being locked up
Cold infirmary drempt
There roommate of Van Gogh
Recovering, a cut
His ear had been whacked off
by himself, sharpened knife
We would go for a walk
Sunshine and exercise
Garden beckoning us
The olive trees still there
Why would they go away
Painting subject he loved
Begging both, his and mine
Take some pictures for him
Plans for painting again
Inside the hospital
When he would be alone
and have no walking friend
The pictures would remind
This grove he'd come to love
Would I please come again
Critique his work for quirks

She texted me
“Send me a sketch
So I'll know you
leaving the train”
And so I did
just like she said
"I'm fairly short
Unruly hair
Eyes that can see
in dark of night
Ears protruding
And button up
Underwear"

Not fun when fun is the help's
Cleaning lady smashes clocks
She smashed my Sun pottery
Made by an astronaut's wife
And an exotic glass egg
Egg from France Mrs. first trip
Souvenirs, can't be replaced

Joline had been invited to the party, “but come alone”, by her ex-college roommate. All girls he had surmised, why else come stag.
Lots of cars he had thought, driving in. He had wanted to see the roommate again too, he knew as he cracked open the door. Oops, he quickly closed the door. Joline on the floor, dancing with her first romantic crush.
Josh could take no more, last night nor this morning. Leaning over the rail, below and in the distance was coming his target, an 18-wheeler. Overhead ‘traffic holding its breath, Sky a tense diaphragm’ . . .

He didn't take that hint, played it like an invitation to come some closer. I jumped up, changed my seat.
