    The day the blackbirds came 

I was sitting on my porch that day

Hundreds of nasty birds came to light 

                                In our back yard 

They scared all other creatures away 

Porcupines and rabbits were the first 

Even I ran in the house from them 

Though they purported to scratch for worms 

                                Worms and bugs 

In reality they'd come to raise cane 

Every three steps they pooped nasty stuff 

Practiced diving with unwilling Cat 

What to do what to do-called the cops 

                                Came and left 

Put on my boots and gown, water down 

Scare the birds away 

                                Their smell remains

Eighth grade teach remembered us 

Poetry we didn't learn 

Idiots us we forgot 

Cherish her in's, teacher still 

Down from her pole poems mouthed 

Like stricken swans we learned then  

Appreciated her verse 

Cherish this day we saw teach

Word Garden post -- Adi Was my Buddy

"I believe in a heaven for all dogdom

where my dog waits for my arrival

waving his fan-like tail in friendship"

Me and My Dog 

Adi was my dog by default 

Came to us landlord kicked her out 

Dogs are okay but no Beagles, 

said, "We can't allow, they howl" 

Adi howled not 'less commanded 

She howled the best for family 

Ice cream, she favored vanilla 

Walking with me her favorite 

Adi became therapy dog 

Paper carrying certified 

A reading dog, helped kids to learn 

Visited the old in their new homes 

Adi loved chasing small and wild 

the rabbits, squirrels and the fox 

Then one day she acted strangely 

Within a month she'd passed away**

No cortege for Adi just us 

Buried her beside the garage 

Soft earth over her used before  

Won't forget telling her goodbye 

Will she be waiting in Heaven 

I think she will if Bible's true 

All God's (little) creatures await

Ending here with the view from Pablo Neruda's home.  It is atop the hill, looking over the harbor and out to sea.  Inspirational for some nice poetry.  Read of this world-famous poet here, my blog entry of his home here (the bottom part of the posting) and read more of Valparaiso here.  

I also did write 14 lines using a title of his, "I Like for You to be Still", back in 2019 (read it here).

Sleeping Cats

 - Granddaughter KP's new cat does not like being left alone.  We think he might be missing his former owner.  Named Dutch, he is an adopted four-year-old male Russian Blue.   He was a one-owner never taken out in the rain; pretty boy belonging to a little old lady, an LOL. 

 - Shay introduced us to Joan Colby, and specifically from her collection Joyriding to Nightfall. Read about her writings at the link above.  Also, others have left a link there to their writings on this and the word list.  - "Colby writes about nature, animals, aging, and the angels and devils in everything around us. 

 - What Shay wants us to do here is simple: use at least 3 of the 20 words on the list in a poem of any length or style. Then link up and visit others. The prompt stays "live" through Friday."
