Word List -- The Birds Came -
Lady visits the Penguin Flock*
The day the blackbirds came
I was sitting on my porch that day
That horrible day the blackbirds came
Hundreds of nasty birds came to light
In our back yard
They scared all other creatures away
Porcupines and rabbits were the first
Even I ran in the house from them
Though they purported to scratch for worms
Worms and bugs
In reality they'd come to raise cane
Every three steps they pooped nasty stuff
Practiced diving with unwilling Cat
What to do what to do-called the cops
Came and left
Put on my boots and gown, water down
Scare the birds away
Their smell remains

I hate to be the one to tell you, but those are penguins.
Sounds like a scary movie Jim! I was wondering about the birds behind her in the photo too. They are definitely not blackbirds. Have a great week and trip with Mrs. Jim.
Some birds do give off an ominous feeling, don't they? And you've captured that well in this poem, Jim. I agree with Carrie, it's like a scene from a horror film.
Amazing you found so much nature in that word list. Nice!
She is adorable, Jim!!! Is that your wife? Gorgeous.
Oh dear--first -- great that you are on sabbatical--secondly--that is terrible re the birds! You paint a vivid picture! The smell remains! Ha. I enjoyed it. We have a pond and have problems (sometimes) with a few ducks or geese, who are beautiful (and only a couple stop) but swim in the pond and can't have them nest there, or really stay, so tend to chase them away. Take care. K. (Manicddaily.) (Sometimes my comments on google post weirdly.)
