Stars, out tonight? -- a Poem for dVerse Quadrille Poem
Bells Will Tell
One bell if the stars are out
Two bells and we'll call them back
Will they come--one never knows
One bell--sailors can come in
There will be dancing galore
Two bells keep your fingers crossed
No bells--lamplighter's asleep
Street-dancing canceled tonight

A great little poem!
I wonder what it would be like to live in the times when the church bells signaled changes in the town? Your poem took me to another place.
Interesting take on the prompt - I like the ideas of the bells ~ Truedessa
My husband is off to Dubrovnik in May and I told him about the two-bell church, - thanks Jim! A whimsical quadrille.
Excellent, Jim. Truly excellent.

Lovely, Jim. An interesting take on the prompt, and it sounds like a wonderful trip.
Bells will tell indeed! Very evocative
I call for three bells ~~~ surprise me!!
Here's hoping for one bell. Well done.
The bells! The bells! You made me imagine Quasimoto in the church tower, living vicariously from his lonely perch.
I love the way you connect the stars with how the bell tolls... made me think of the book title "for whom the bell tolls"... and the belief that your destiny can be read from the stars.
