a Quadrille Poem for dVerse writing -- Also for May Day

.

HAPPY MAY DAY

It's over the hill

just read the map

One mile due east

from there turn left

Two point three and

house on the right

Aunt sue will be

ready for us

Her paper strung

use last years pole

Maypole we'll dance

sing melody

I like the family celebration you are describing here. Hoping the sun is shining and the breeze is warm.

Jim, this is a fun take, but please note for future Quadrille submissions that your poem should literally contain some form of the word we provide that week. In this case, that word is "map."

I'm quirky, so for your poem above this could be as simple is one tiny change to Maypole: "Ma(y)pole." It then becomes an invented word, "map-pole." ;)

That’s a cheerful quadrille, Jim, and so timely! I haven’t seen maypole dancing for many years. I love that it needed a map to get there.

Fun memories, Jim. At Bryn Mawr College, where our older child and their wife went, they have May Day festivities every year.

That sounds like a case of it being even better to arrive than to travel, lol.
