The Spirit Cannot be Killed

"In order to rise from its own ashes, a Phoenix first must burn."
Octavia Butler

The Phoenix; how many times

How many times must this bird be burned
Kill her cannot be she'll rise again
Stronger and stronger each time she burns
From those ashes of her spirit comes

Stronger than always does she arise
Burn baby burn was the cry last time
We will rise  stronger each time we burn
In our hearts on the streets we must burn

And from those ashes we come again
'Tis true each time new freedoms are won

Good Morning.
Really at the moment it really isnt good and will not be for a while. Troubles abound, Racism and Coronavirus 19 consume. After previewing Octania's 16 story compilation I was going to write of a prospective father-in-law'a admonition to the fellow to read her book before he gives his daughter in marriage. But this morning the heart of my muse was saying, "got to tell my own 'ode' to the ashes" story. Viva Los Angeles.

If freedom will rise from the ashes, I echo the "Burn baby burn"! thought.

The fire gives rise to strength. Tempering like steel. Stronger and stronger she burns.

Certainly the Phoenix is a good example to us that to keep trying and you may get there...wherever it is you want to be!

The situation has been heating up for so long, I’m not surprised at the cry of ‘Burn baby burn’, but this time around it has to be better. Are the eagle and the phoenix related?
