A Poem for Midweek Scribbling

     Dog and squirrel

New Tricks

The kid was happy happy
Happy over the new book
Given by an aunt and read
Read over night ready now

Titled One Hundred New Tricks
Next off to show eager friends
Is there a kid in the world
One that doesn't like new tricks

Called the dog on the way out
Would be the helper today
Kissed Mom in passing.  She winked,
"Dogs are slow to learn new tricks"

I used to teach my dog a lot of tricks...then I just gave up. She would search for a "squirrel" at the mere mention of the word though.

New books are a reason for joy. And new books about tricks? Well, what boy (or girl) wouldn't love that?

The thing is - the child will read and try, try again to teach that dog new tricks even if it takes a long time. As adults, we can all use a book like that.

Motivation of a new book and whole day, maybe a whole summer to try, to learn and maybe succeed to create a new neighborhood show. A chance for two pals to make memories. Well done

Such a sweet poem, Jim! A new book is always a joy, but then to be able to share it with a pet and friends is even better!

LOL, we couldn't teach Kit too much other than beg, which he already knew.
