Cooking vs. Making - a Poem for Friday Writings and for dVerse Quadrille
My Egg, Ham, and Cheese sandwich open face See its recipe amongst various ones that I make Oct 13 in a search of my blog for the word "sandwich here, https://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/search?q=sandwich |

A Woman's Touch
It takes a woman's touch
Woman's touch for to cook
Cook I said, not to make
I make sandwiches, egg,
ham, and cheese oh so fine
Meatballs and spaghetti
and follow recipes
It's finer touch, deserts
pretty dishes she cooks
Woman touches for those

Jim, I love this little exploration of gender roles and the nuanced significance of a woman's touch in the kitchen.
Much love,

Or even a man’s touch, in my husband’s case – he is such a great cook, even the desserts! I’m glad you and your wife share the kitchen, Jim, making and cooking.
At home I am the master of entrees, my wife do the deserts....
Ha! My husband would agree with you, Jim.
Fried egg sandwiches with mayo on toast. Heading for our kitchen!! Your fault.
Well, I do all the cooking and baking here, but I hate to put it on gender roles. There are many men who cook and bake. 🙂
I don't know...I was taught to cook by an excellent cook who happened to be male.
Unfortunately I’m not a very good cook.😞
Ha ha, all the foods I no longer eat!
Smiling at that... some of the best chefs I know are men - whether it is a cup of tea or a full indian meal with dessert!!
I think you just gave me my breakfast!
the skill of crafting the perfect needs a loving touch, !
Two of our sons worked their way through school as restaurant workers. One of them became a chef! Cheers to the guys. Your sandwich looks yummy.
Making a sandwich is sensual too.
Meatballs and spaghetti sound so enticing. Indeed a woman includes an additional dimension to everything she does from domestic to work front.
Delicious poem, and pic.
My husband is the far better cook. He's like the Iron Chef of home cooking, whipping up some seriously creative stuff!
Yes, men are builders.
