Telling words ~~ a Poem for the Friday Writings

Too bad the tree fell on it. Of course no one was
inside, just a whole lot of memories left there waiting.
Dad made this two holer, you can buy a brand new
one in kit form for around $449.00. Go here

The light and the dark

I've seen London and I've seen France
I like sunshine and hate the dark
Lamp lights okay, nightlights to sleep
Am I afraid, fearing the dark

Superstitious? That I am not
Under ladders, there I won't walk
Nor let black cats to cross my path
For them I'll dodge, go other way

It all started when I was small
Outhouse was back, back in the grove
Twas back behind--Mom's chicken house
When it was dark--Sister's along

All that to say "I hate the dark"
I'm still that way, flashlights do help

Notes:
 - Rosemary has invited us to write about “darkness and light.”
 - The photo is of our outhouse toilet when I was growing up on the farm.  A tree has fallen on it now.  You can buy a brand new one in kit form for around $449.00. Go here

 - Although I say that I'm not superstitious, when I was teaching, I numbered my tests and mixed the questions differently for odd/even rows.  I also numbered each question pamphlet; I would exchange number 13 for number 43.  My students didn't know that had occurred, therefore if by chance that student was concerned, he/she would not worry about having number thirteen.

Childhood nightmares stay forever. I can empathize with you.

I've only used outhouses on rustic camping trips, but that was all I needed to appreciate the nightlight in my non-creaky bathroom so much more.

Oh Mr. Jim I love this!!! Memories of trembling hand trying to steady my flashlight, making my way to my grandparent's outhouse. Cheers.

I never was scared OF the dark, but as a small child of nomadic parents I was often scared of new places IN the dark.

That was so honest. Liked the way the lines opened to a reality fact

I still have to sleep with a light on, and a flashlight nearby incase of blackouts. (Sara)
