See You at the Ballot Box -- a Poem for Quadrille #172
My shifting changes
I made a shift,
a shift I've made before
From Republican before
to Democrat last election
I'm shifting parties back
Back to Republican
Don't like the way
the way Republican candidates stack
Not saying for whom I'll vote
Don't want old men back again

It may well be old and older next time around.
Sometimes both the choices are unpalatable.
Just today, I was saw this quote...
"In the very end, civilizations perish because they listen to their politicians and not to their poets." — Jonas Mekas.
We should never be afraid to shift at any time. Would love to see more of that openness in the U.S.
I think I used a similar form!
I'll vote for those who are not authoritarians or fascists whatever their age.
Great poem. I know what you mean! Not much worth choosing from it seems. I don't hold fast to either party. They are all shifty if you ask me!
Good luck on the next round of elections!
The reason I am a steadfast Independent registered voter. I like making up my mind on issues, not political party platforms. Cheers.
I like Mish's quote as well.
