Sunday Muse -- Come Back?

Photography by Josephine

The old man looked down on the cat.  She was new in the neighborhood and looked up at him expectingly.  He felt her inquiry, could he help her, feed her and give her some loving, a tickle on the neck would do fine?  He was thinking of keeping her around, did she have a home, did she have a family?   He silentlly asked,

You remind me of a long time ago
A time we fished at the pond on your farm
Little brother had come along to fish
He was an interruption to our day

Not a pest, rather a constant bother
We'd just get settled and he'd have a catch
We'd take fish off his hook and bait anew
That was our afternoon, fish after fish

We went together for almost a year
Played it nice and keeping the Bible rules
Came a day the bottom fell out for me
Her old boyfriend came back from fighting wars

All was over for our relationship
Could you be her come back in other form?

The cat is probably her own person. But to love a cat can be the love of one's life.

Love how "a long time ago" gradually unfolds. Beautiful.

This is an interesting take on the picture, Jim. I know, in my lifetime, my soul mate had fur. Smiles.

In a world of belief, anything is possible. If it isn't her, she will still provide him with the company he craves. I like how brother and bother do an internal rhyme.
