Seasons

Surreal Artwork

Seems we go

Seems we go from Spring's lush beauty blessings
passing Summer's steamy unpleasantness
with one blink of eye into Fall's messes
and flashing on to Winter's cold bleakness

Seems Old Age has shown its infirmities
before it's time before we are ready
Ugliness too from stiff whitening hair to
red splotches cover faces and bodies

We use canes crutches walkers and wheel chairs
Yesterday we ran races rode our bikes
Visited places we'd only heard their names
Drove our cars like racers through thick traffic

Oh yes, belly buttons stick out not in
Our love life has changed but can it remain
How long the Winter will be we don't know
 _ _ _

Like the old song, before
your time, enjoy life now
"Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end"

But oh, the memories! Great for pulling out and remembering in the winters of our lives. Nice to read you, Jim. I havent been around much - fatigue, vertigo, but still here, and that's the main thing! Smiles.

I think we a blessed and lucky to reach the winter years my friend. I know many that didn't. I agree with Sherry, the memories are a wonderful thing. Always glad to see you at the Muse Jim!

Yes, it's been a blink of the eye. Some days I have to say I'd disagree with Sherry and Carrie. Some days the memories hurt too much to allow.

"Seems Old Age has shown its infirmities / before it's time before we are ready " - wonderful leap of the metaphor and image!

You've described it well. And those cycles seem to speed up as time goes by! Good take on the image, Jim.

"How long the Winter will be we don't know" This is so true and fearful as well. Winter does seem to be longer than spring, summer & fall just as they are put in your poem. Lovely.
