Sunday Muse Poem -- Curtains and Shades
Pull the Shade
Beautiful sheers
But if you want privacy
Then pull the shade
What goes behind
Closed shades, that we never tell
Secrets we keep
Peep show we're not
Imagination fills the blanks
Show and don't tell
Curtains do tease
Shadows reveal and give hints
Of what's not seen
Privacy's needs
Call for pulling down the shade
You make that call

I like the “concealment & exposure” to which this piece alludes —- and the bold question that concludes it. Strong writing Jim.
There are always those who lurk, as you suggest .... at bedroom windows and at life in general!
My grandfather always used to say that some things should be left to the imagination. This beautiful poem made me think of that. Always a pleasure to see you at the Muse Jim!
... and turn out the lights. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem, Jim. Happy Weekend.
Nice essay in poetic form, Jim. Each of us decides how far to pull down the shades. For every private person there is an exhibitionist -- and a voyeur to watch!

Your last line says it all - nice job, Jim! Thanks for sharing.
2020 or shadow theatre? Yes!
Nicely written.
Love the way this leans into the choice of visibility, both what is presented and what is watched.
When we lived in NYC, people sometimes didn't pull the shades in their apartments. Wowzers.
That the shade is not enough to conceal, sets up a paradox for its function in concealement. Why is it even there
Nice one Jim. Thanks for dropping ny my blog
Much💗love
There is a shadow tease with sheer curtains.. Are you revealing or hiding. Love this one.
