Poem, Eating and Thinking

"Waffles" by Megan

My Photo

Leftovers for lunch

Some folk for breakfast
have waffles and fruit
Breakfast fit for King

Maple syrup on
morsels  of delight
Gold in their purses

Pleasure fruit desert
How goes Dow today
Must give cook a raise

People of my ilk
Coffee bread and beans
Is there baby's milk

Hotel lunch for rich
Steak they didn't cook
Put on their account

Leftovers for me
Yesterday's dinner
Hope it didn't spoil

Spinach for my thoughts
Fried baked potato
Ketchup for my soul

Frozen chicken piece
Brain food six months old
Please pennies for thoughts

Strawberries rustled
from the neighbor's patch
Chocolate dab to share

Differently we eat
and muse

This is absolutely brilliant! I enjoyed the way you describe how "differently we eat and muse," thank you so much for writing to the prompt!💝

If only more men would enjoy cooking, I am a convert myself and quite happy when I do.

Love the line "Spinach for my thoughts." Clever!

"Ketchup for my soul." I like that line. I'm not a big ketchup fan, but if I go to a burger place, and there's ketchup in a pump, I will definitely get some. By "some," I mean three times as much as I need.

I've see both my kids put together some seriously strange leftover platters as their lunches over the summer. :D

A fun juxtaposition of musing and eating.... a well-layered bake!
