"A Day to Come" ~~ a Poem for Tuesday Plarform
They tried to bury us deep
They didn't know we were seeds
In horror they watched us grow
Grew to be pretty flowers
and lovely weeds praising God
Sunflowers, dandelions
Ridiculed for who we were
Race, color, and religion
Gender, marriage, and more
But we know their day is near
Gnashing teeth and Hell's fire
Hypocrites's retribution

A much needed cry against discrimination.... which one keeps hoping will stop.
Powerfully penned, Jim!
A touching write Jim
I love that saying, too: "they didnt know we were seeds." For every one felled, a hundred more rise in his place. I loved this poem, Jim.
This one bites Jim.
I really like where today's graphic took you, Jim. certainly a new favourite for me.
Very true. they cut us back not realizing our roots go deep and will sprout again in some other place. A very powerful statement against hypocrisy.
Nicely done, Jim!
Good heavens, that first stanza is AWESOME!
It's evil of me I know, but I grinned at the thought of hypocrites' retribution.
But we know their day is near
Gnashing teeth and Hell's fire
Hypocrites's retribution
The ill-advised will get what they deserve. They will not know what hit them. Very likely so Dr Jim!
Hank
I completely adore the first stanza, Jim. The things people miss, when they don't look... and see.
...they didn't know that we were seeds... I love that line!!
