Dan Man's Gone ― Day 30 of NaPoWriMo 2015
Dan the man, the Destructible Dan Man
Came aboard the Mars 2-15 Express
It was a one way ticket, no return
No return ever, meaning not ever
Only UP this ride would go, goodbye all
Okay with Dan, he hated this world
Hated everyone, hated his family
Father and mother, wife and children, all
Full of hatred he, had a plan for all
On his way to Mars, there's no return, safe
Destructible Dan Man, he killed them all
He threw their bodies in the backyard well
5, 4, 3, 2, Lift off, we've had lift off
The Mars 2-15 has cleared the launch pad
No remorse, safe now, "Dan Man out of here"

This is deeply horrifying..! But I loved the easy flow of the lines.. beautifully smooth :D
Congratulations on making it through this month..!
xoxo
Ooh, a dark ending! But kinda fun too.
I love that this reads like a Johnny Cash song, had Johnny Cash been a martian folk hero. What a clever twist to the prompt. Thanks for posting and viva la!!!!!
Yikes. Glad he's gone! Congratulations, Jim, on making it through the month with al those poems! Thanks too for taking the time to comment! Take care, k.
Now, that's some exit!!
Indeed.. But on his way to Mars it's still a prison..
Crazy Dan... 'I vant to be alone' got his wish.
I wonder about people who are so anxious to take a one way ride to Mars. I've always figured they haven't thought it through, but your dark alternative is certainly a possibility. I know I missed a few days, but kudos on making through the April 30/30, Jim.
Congrats, Jim on making it to the finish line! Darkness descends and madness still lingers~ Damn, Dan the Man.
Well, and we wont miss Dan much, will we? smiles.
Oh no...goodbye and good riddance Dan! Great end to the month. Thanks for the poetry you brought to April.
Yowza! I love that the means of transport is rather steampunk. :)
I recently read the novel The Martian. That guy didn't kill anyone, but he did end up alone. Really good, recommended if you haven't already read it.
