One Single Impression: Mask

.

In Hiding

Why do you wear that mask
Lone Ranger wanna be?
Do people often ask
reveal yourself to me?

Brazen robber abhorred
stealthy night man so vile?
Incognito—you lord
over the night a while.

On your path to the ball
imbued with rich ego?
Grandness one dares not call—
one peek before you go?

Noted surgeon sterile
cap, gloves, gown, mask applies.
Nurses and scrubs at will
glimpsing beneath your guise—

Features blatantly shine
yet emotions unseen—
thoughts latently abide
your being hides from me.

Curious me, I want to know, reveal yourself to me

Well done, Jim. Pretense--such a deadly, deadening thing.

The photo is wonderful.

Jim, I really enjoyed the photo and your poem. You describe the mask we hide behind so well.

This is such an intriguing photo. I'm guessing from Halloween. Nice poem and take on the prompt as well.

masks surely can make us lean in to know what is underneath. Perhaps that is one reason that folks mask who they are, a mystery to inspire curiosity. Oh, I like that idea for a poem... hum
I quite enjoyed your poem Jim.

Out of curiosity I doubt he will take off his mask for you, Jim. No one ever does...

How transparent the guise. You really shone the light (excuse the pun) on the folly of pretense.

The photo made me giggle.
