[Istanbul dog # 1, click picture to enlarge]
The Mind Is Its Own Beautiful Prisoner;
not all thoughts are of humans
Walking the streets of Istanbul
I was feeling sorrow tugging
for the many dogs sleeping nearby
Dare I take action there and then
The first was tied a grimy rope
Took him away gave him some food
Biscuits only, he gobbled three
Rest was easy six dogs in all
Unaccustomed to best of care
Became their master in a day
While they ate some pangs I would feel
Did their former owners await
Waiting for their pets to come home
Guilt, mind prisoner to canine souls

Oh, all those precious dogs, bless you.
Only in my mind did I take them home. And that thought was embellished for this post. But I did pass all six and sincerely agree with Mark Twain.
..
I think they seems so content sleeping.....
This is so sweet!❤️
Oh, I well remember your earlier post about those dogs. Lovely to revisit them via your poem.

Truly Man's best friend that never talks back! Pity they are left alone to fend for themselves. Is Istanbul a safe place for them?

Those dogs break my heart, Jim. It’s good to know that you gave them some love!
