Personal Challenge Poem -- A limerick, "Bad day at the golf course"
.
Bad day at the golf course;
a limerick
Somebody had borrowed his wedge
Fine golfer he, chaos did edge
His keen direction had winged
Spoil his day, putter he flinged**
Subtle end, club's on his car ledge

My challenge was to use these ten words from D.H. Lawrence's The Song of a Man Who Came Through (I could have used only nine but I may have fudged on one [which?]):
*direction, *wedge, *chaos, *winged, *fine, *spoil, *borrowed, *subtle, *somebody, *keen *
**Note: Poet's license here, "flung" would be grammatically correct.

How great to see that the personal challenge has a spin-off! You did very well to incorporate all those words into so tight a form.
How clever to use the words in a limerick ~ Good one Jim ~
Neat to see your spin-off - very humorous, too.
Hilarious Dr Jim! In fact I had witnessed such episodes at our Club. It involved different people on different occasions.The first when he flung it into branches and the club stayed up there. He had to pay his caddy to bring it down, The other one flung it towards the pond.Anger made him stronger. The Club flew into the middle and was not recovered. Oh well! Golf is supposed to help build character. That 's the way it is!

Good one, Jim. I've been tempted on more than a few occasions to tomahawk a club into the pond or trees... Thanks for picking up the challenge, too. ~
Wow! Very good, Dr Jim :)
