Snowy night car play - μ Poetry, a tinge of e e cummings
Up the street from the Blair (Nebraska) MacDonald's on a snowy December morning
snowflakes lighting on
moscow streets gives inklings of
stay-at-home evening
highway's run move them
off the streets дорогие полиции
please dear politsii
make space for us
skillful drivers midnight boys
snowy night street racers
(now a refrain, e e cumming style)

.- I'm linked with Kerry O'Connor to her post, one this snowflake ~ Micro Poetry
bearing in mind a short poem, 10 lines or less and "You may choose your own form or stick to free verse, if preferred." Also it may relate to the e e cummings "'one this snowflake' angle" of his poem, perhaps his own way of writing Haiku poetry (link1)(link2)(link3-Wikipedia)
.- I have ten lines, the last being a 'refrain' in e e cummings style typewriter skewed form, with my first nine in Haiku/Senryū form.
.- When visiting Moscow in 2006 we spent three days and three nights (sleeping on our river cruise boat) there. The first day it did snow some, the next day with some accumulation the drivers didn't seem to mind.

"snowy night street racers"
That sounds scary (and thrilling) in so many ways...
Very innovative way of doing it Dr Jim!

Fun! Hey in answer to your question about the Empire State Bldg: 1956: As a symbol of welcome and freedom to visitors, four large beacon lights are installed at the foot of the tower known as “The Freedom Lights.”
WONDERFUL.
I have no idea how to do this sort of thing in Wordpress. It's awesome!
"inklings of stay-at-home evening"---I like the warmth that evokes :-)
What a different perspective to the one we are used to!
I can see those racing cars through the snowy racers...
Very nice shape poetry! I like the wordplay you used!
Ha. Super clever, Jim. I love the Moscow references which because of the Cyrillic alphabet fit so well with the shaped refrain. Thanks. k.
that's some snow! i like how you plowed your words down the white space
Heehee - well done, Jim.
Amazing to have visited Russia, Jim.
Nice. Makes me wish for more of a travelogue. Watch out, go speed racer, go!
Staying at home waiting for the plows to come makes you hope the plow driver shows up! Lol! Good job.
Hi Jim, I like snowflakes lighting give inklings. That word inklings is my word of the day
The cold keeping us inside, connected...love that. I also love the nod to ee cumming
