When and Then
I sat and wondered
How by plan can I grow up
When I'm sixty-four
Grandkids all love me
I loved them too with envy
I loved sixty-four
Best of times it was
Had no pain, no worries then
Young at sixty-four
Can't remember now
Think I may never grow up
'Cause I'm eighty-four

NOTE: I am not 84 years old yet. I did beat 64 though,. My poet obviously writes about one who is 84. I love the Beatle song about that 64, "When I'm sixty-four" lyrics

Today I'm linked with the Real Toads, Words Count with Mama Zen
Each verse must be under 140 characters and spaces for her. I am at 62, 65, 67, and 64. Probably add two more characters on each for the line returns.

And I am 54... lots to learn from those who have wizened for three additional decades.
Love the progression here. :)
My dad used to say, if you don't like your age just wait a few years. ;-)
something to look forward to ~
When I turned 64, my grandson serenaded me with the Beatles .. One of the best gifts ever! Here's to life, Jim.
young at heart
I am to old to grow up... :)
I'm the same age I always was on the inside - just the body that likes to disagree.
Well done, Jim!
Why should we grow up? Great poem!
A bit of Peter Pan still alive in you? Sweet.
Good stuff, Jim. I remember when I became a Beatles song, too.
