Horrors - a Poem for Sunday Muse for the Sunday Muse

Photography by Katerena Plotnikova

        Trouble Ahead

Where is my flower girl, need her now
My wedding date is today, ruined
Planned for a green wonderful setting
Instead here am I poisoned forest
Relegated to this awful Red
Woman of the wilds I am not

Where's my groom and my bridal party
Wait, who is that coming here to me
Followed by a big pack of red dogs
Can it be his best man checkered shirt
Jeans and sandals what is going on
Woman of the wilds I am not

In just a minute more are coming
It's the groomsmen riding their RVs
Horsemen they're not, all six falling off
Jeeps with bridal party wearing tights
Pastor Bob hands his chain saw to me
Woman of the wilds I am not

Fool me loosened my gown from the big tree
Sawed down seven trees, was stopped on eight
Strong hand took my saw caressed my brow
It seemed my knight, come to rescue me
Dear wake up, all waiting for my bride
Woman of the wilds I was not

I REALLY enjoyed reading this.........a wedding run amok.......in the most wonderful way. Then she woke up. I personally would have loved to attend the dream wedding. LOL.

Sounds like a surreal fantasy with a tinge of horror. Creative imaginings, Jim.

Weddings are beautiful but can be stressful. Your poem makes me think of that part. Have a great week my friend!

Sounds like a complete nightmare - glad she woke up to normality.

A magnificent fairytale! Goes along wonderfully with the photo that inspired it.
