A Saturday Flash Poem
Eli Edward Evangelidis (2018) Used with Permission |
Into the Garden
Descendant of Eve
Inhabits the Garden
But only at night
In she sneaks picks the lock
God's lock sealing tight
Until this lass did match
With God's wild friends play
Play till Morning rouses
God's perfect Garden
His rule breached one more time

- Picture is of an engraving titled 'Beauty Forgotten in Survival's Eyes' by a contemporary artist, Eli Edward Evangelidis of Australia. Permission has been given to those who write to post with our work. You can see this and others of Eli by using the following link: https://www.instagram.com/eliedwardart/
- I'm linked with Kerry O'Connor in the Imaginary Garden at http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2019/06/art-flash-55.html?m=1
- Kerry's suggestion was to write as inspired by the engraving. We could also write a Flash (short) poem of 55 words. My poem purposely has 55 syllables not counting the title [also has 43 words without the title].

So this is how Eve lets her hair down. Who knew the honkeytonk was just outside Eden!
I like the reference to Eve in this one, Jim.
You've gotta be slick to get away with it!
I always thought Eve got a bad rap.
I always knew Eve had skills. :-D
I take this as someone other than Eve as you write "descendant" but either way... to break into the Garden of Eden... I don't know, my Catholic self is a bit horrified :)
Eve never did play by the rules.
Eve never was just a pretty face, Jim, and rules are made to be broken!
I hummed Girls Just Wanna Have Fun while reading this. Eve wants to be the one who walks in the sun and moonlight.
I'm sure it was a great choice in the end... this is how life is born.
Oh, Eve..I am so glad you wrote her having fun.
