It's Twelve fifteen at night;
  first day of this new year

The streets are full of irking smoke
Outside smells of powder burning
Faintly I see street lights' weak glow
Reminds me of Lebanon's ills

Faintly I see street lights burning
Few lingering explosions heard
Now and then really loud, real close
Scares the dogs even our beta

Outside smells strong powder odor
Lights still burning through the smoke
Moments ago the skies were lit
Arial bombs bursting in air

Had Houston won the Super Bowl
You'd think so, way they celebrate
The skies were lit China gets rich
Selling fireworks to the masses

Morning, It's Twelve-fifteen;
  my wife's BIGGEST BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mrs. Jim !!! Of course every birthday is bigger than the one before, this one is really big. I am glad Houston celebrates on this day. Fireworks are illegal inside most city limits here, our subdivision is outside them out in the county

Your words are binding with the atmospheric feeling of the time and location — the senses are awakened by your images. Very well-penned! Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to Mrs. Jim. :-)

I can never understand the need for fireworks - I think they should be outlawed.. but I guess my opinion is in the minority with the amount of cash that goes up in smoke the world over to mark one day on the calendar.

My best wishes to Mrs Jim.

My best wishes to Mrs Jim... it was amazing how much was wasted on firework around the globe... frankly I rather have rather not have so much firework and gradually it's getting outlawed I think

Well, Mrs Jim. I hope you are keeping Mr.JIM busy. That's #1 Job of ALL Mrs.Jims around the world. I bet the garage still needs working over, right? I hope your foot is better. You gotta be Feeling Fine by now. We need to come visit. I gotta get Velma & Royce to let us pick 'em up and travel together to Houston one day to visit for 2-3 days. Go places, see people. They'd love riding in my new (used 2012) Suburban. Plenty room for ALL 6 of us. It's got DVD Video TV. Entertainment galore. It would be fun. We gotta do that sometimes by Summer. You think about that. Let's plan a trip down. I need another PONCHOS FIX !! HA.
Gotta Run. (But, I'll take my car.)
Love to All.
DAN...😎
