I know today
is for prose. I am trying to learn how to write hip hop
poetry and don't get much help, even from Google.
If any of you
readers have written hip hop poetry you could leave me a helpful
comment below.
Here's
my attempt, today's prompt words are the title and first and second lines:
release their sweet, wild perfume
then bow down, heavy with rain.’
a purple bouquet for you
one I cut for you with pain
there's much love mixed with my blood
mixed in with shiny petals
bright red and a bit of mud
all from lack of parasol
city lilacs traffic dust
purple pieces with my red
different than the country ones
fresh and clean and pure it's said
I cut myself with my knife
your Valentine worth the price

Pretty well does it for now.

I so enjoyed your Valentine’s rap, Jim! You’ve got the rhythm, the attitude and the rhymes, especially the pain, the love mixed with blood, petals ‘bright red and a bit of mud’, and the final couplet. However, as this prompt is for Prosery, I will have to remove your post from Mister Linky and ask you to add it to Open Link on Thursday, which is being hosted by Sanaa. How about joining us for Open Link Live?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim, yes you must keep things propper. An aside, I don't use prose too well. Probably the "poem" name doesn't count Habians either due to the Senyru endings. I was worried that my prose part wasn't enough, I trimmed it to satisfy the 144 limit.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep the poem, try it solo elsewhere with a short note. I liked it hip hop or not.
