Little flower on the wall
I wonder what your heritage is
Imaginations passing by
Images flying
from whence they've walked
Tis a function of the seed
Who its parents were
Were they wild and random in their breeding
Weeds? In unwanted places growing?
Or tended, fed and watered in some majestic garden
Where it's planted
Where its roots have taken hold
Near bits of soil
Thimble sized or buckets spread
Nutrients hard to find
or gobs and gobs waiting for a gullible seed
Neither soil nor seed had a say
It's where they landed
and happened to stay
I see the flower
Admire its beauty
And wonder
What lie before and behind

One does wonder how it got there and took hold - as amazing as the courage of the people in Ukraine. I hope this war ends soon.
ReplyDeleteThought provoking and soul stirring Jim. Glad to see you back at the Muse.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carrie. I am still under quarantine, Mrs. Jim has her first day of freedom today.

Interesting questions. In my yard, the plants need to be wild and hardy as the weeds (especially in the deep heat of summer) and even the weeds might get a pot of their own...or just not be strictly removed from pots in which they appear. :) And there have been days when I've been tempted to steal a few seeds from the tall wild sunflowers growing at the edge of the Home Depot parking lot.
ReplyDeleteThey won't care. Called seed rustling. I've always wanted to do wild/native rose rustling.

It's alive. Here. Now. That's all that matters.
