             The fish the fish!! 

            It's the fish he cried 
            it's the fish you smell 
            Had them for supper 
            from your yellow bag 

            Bag of groceries 
            they were my goodies 
            Sardines' odors stay  
            stinky on their own 

            Baudelaire * I am not 
           (His "Autumn Sonnet") **
            Sardines help me write 
            
            cheeky poem later 
            to light your candles  
         (hope to make you blush)

  1. I had not read that poem by Baudelaire before. Rimbaud's my guy, but I should brush up on Baudelaire as well. Brautigan wrote a whole series of poems in which Baudelaire shows up and does a number of quite unlikely things.

  5. well i for one like the smell of fish, and the taste, but then i have built a whole life around trout fishing, so i guess that is why. enjoyed your poem jim
