The fish the fish!!
It's the fish he cried
it's the fish you smell
Had them for supper
from your yellow bag
Bag of groceries
they were my goodies
Sardines' odors stay
stinky on their own
Baudelaire * I am not
(His "Autumn Sonnet") **
Sardines help me write
cheeky poem later
to light your candles
(hope to make you blush)

I had not read that poem by Baudelaire before. Rimbaud's my guy, but I should brush up on Baudelaire as well. Brautigan wrote a whole series of poems in which Baudelaire shows up and does a number of quite unlikely things.
ReplyDeleteIt's the fish, or maybe the plane! This made me laugh Jim!! This is poem is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteLED lanterns
ReplyDeleteInside your pumpkins
Shine through scarred faces
Jack-O-Lanterns make
And windproof as well
..
I bet that household has a lot of fun times.
ReplyDeletewell i for one like the smell of fish, and the taste, but then i have built a whole life around trout fishing, so i guess that is why. enjoyed your poem jim
